“Forza Motorsport 4” will be the most expansive and vividly realistic automotive experience across any console, bringing you closer to the edge than you’ve ever been before. Through the power of Kinect, players will be able to step through the TV screen and jump into the driver’s seat while the engaging controller-based experience will let you take on the bone-jarring physics, unparalleled levels of customization, and rosters of dream cars and tracks. Offering gameplay that will electrify racing fans and excite car lovers and novices alike, the highest-rated racing franchise of this generation returns in fall 2011.
For fans looking for the best racing experience available today, the “Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection” for Xbox 360 is in stores now and includes the award-winning racing title, all previously released Game Add-ons, and the Koenigsegg CCX, LEXUS LFA, and Mercedes Benz SLS-AMG supercars as part of the “Stig’s Garage Car Pack.” Owners will also receive a special 90-minute video compilation featuring “Top Gear” hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, as well as an exclusive Xbox Live “Top Gear” premium dashboard theme.
Let’s talk about the newest track on offer. Some say it used to be a Canadian airfield during WWII, and that one corner is named after easy listening music—all we know is, it’s called the Top Gear test track, and it’s coming to Forza for the first time when the game hits store shelves.
The newest edition to the exciting real-world tracks available in the latest Forza instalment, the Top Gear test track continues a star-studded matchup that started with Forza Motorsport 3’s Ultimate Collection, which featured the Stig’s Garage Car Pack and exclusive video from Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. Now in Forza 4 the track itself is fully rendered and available for play in several configurations, all based upon the Stig’s real-life playground at Dunsfold Aerodrome.
What makes this track so special (other than it being featured on a hit BBC car show)? Top Gear worked with Lotus to overlay a challenging course onto the old airfield, and each corner is designed to test various aspects of a car’s set-up. We’re bringing all of that suspension-torturing action right to your Xbox console with turns like Chicago, a “steady state corner” contrived to test your mettle by drawing out over- or understeer hiding in an unsorted chassis. From Hammerhead down to the famous Gambon left-hander, the track faithfully translates the difficult course into a fully immersive experience perfect for any die-hard Top Gear fanatic. Did you remember to keep the throttle pinned through the Bentley sweeper? Fire up the replay to check your technique, watching from the top of the tire stack as you rocket through, just like in the show.
You should be familiar with the Top Gear test track as the setting for the show’s “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car” segment, so in addition to revealing the track for our fans during E3, we can also tell you that in Forza Motorsport 4 you’ll have the option of hopping in the same car used in the show: the 2011 Kia cee’d. Remember when Tom Cruise crossed the finish line with the cee’d up on two wheels? His unorthodox technique set one of the fastest lap times ever recorded by a star during the segment. With only 123 horsepower under the “bonnet” of the cee’d (or, as Clarkson is fond of referring to it, the “c-apostrophe-d”), it will take some fancy driving to keep up with the show’s lead-footed megastars.
