'Shadow Of The Game' Announced

by Rainier on March 2, 2012 @ 11:47 a.m. PST

Shadow of the Game is an experimental story driven 2D adventure which focuses on storytelling via music, cut scenes and dialogue.

Typical and conventional gameplay elements found in most RPGs are rare. User interfaces such as health & spell bars are non-existing. The only user interface in the game is the dialogue window. Everything else is based on the player’s perception of the story and immersion.

The first round of external testing started a heated discussion about Shadow of the Game. Some loved it and thought it was brilliant, while others wouldn’t even call it a game. Shadow of the Game is classified as a video game for PC, but it is a very experimental title. The core gameplay consists of a meta-designed story and narrative choices made by the player, along with a few puzzles. Shadow of the Game is an interactive narrative experience, exploring the boundaries between a cartoon and a game.

For gamers by gamers about gamers. Shadow of the Game is like nothing ever seen before. It is a single player game about gamers in an award winning MMO, presented by the in-game development company Gizzard. Shadow of the Game tells the story of a group of MMO-gamers playing the last raid in the final expansion, striving for the best loot ever made in MMO history: Tankpranx.

Shadow of the Game is a retro title with a modern theme, and is a tribute to the amazing adventure titles from the 90’s and modern gamer culture. Players can expect to investigate narrative themes like loot rules, MMO culture, parallel universes spiced up with a Meta- designed story, strong references to illegal substances (They smoke weed, a lot of weed), bad grammar, no violence, huge bongs and psychoactive experiences.

The Shadow of the Game developers are looking for a potential publishing partner and reveal that an episodic format, releasing one episode each week, for 10 weeks is not unlikely.
