TERA raises the bar, setting new standards in the gaming industry. It is a visually stunning world with graphic quality above all other games in the industry. You will experience a new ground-breaking gameplay system where stereotypes of traditional MMORPGs will be broken. You will have full control over the attacks and the fate of your enemy. No more "pointing and clicking" and playing combat relay with the enemies. Furthermore, not only do you control the action, TERA is also set in a world where the players will dictate the flow of the economy and individually impact the community environment.
In TERA, players master their destiny in a richly detailed game world with a pioneering dynamic combat system. Individual player actions can transform the balance of power in a world where old rivalries are erased, and disparate races must form a common federation to stave off destruction by marauding monsters and warring gods.
You become part of the realm of Arborea, created by the Ancient Gods. You defend your race in a fantasy world where your creators, descendents of the Ancient Gods, have warred upon each other centuries ago. Join forces and become part of a vast world in constant conflict, where new battles and weaponry skills will leave you grasping for more as you become immersed in the realm of Arborea. Take charge and become the hero the world seeks!
The closed beta tests took place on five weekends between February 10 and April 8, exposing tens of thousands of players to TERA’s rich and vivid world. Players experienced new game content and new game systems as they played — side-by-side with dozens of En Masse staffers — from the starting area to Level 38, topping it all off with a hard-hitting monster spawn event.
The goal for the production team was to incorporate player feedback into future TERA updates, and to show them first hand TERA’s exciting action combat. And see it they did.
Players killed a staggering 7.8 billion (yes, with a “b”) monsters. They also formed 90,000 parties and over 3,600 guilds as they explored in-game locations that included the Bastion of Lok, Sinestral Manor, and the Cultist’s Refuge. They played through a major game storyline involving Commander Samael, voiced by Michael Hogan of Battlestar Galactica fame. They earned 14.5 billion gold, looted 20 million items, and died almost 2 million times.
En Masse garnered a huge amount of useful feedback during the closed betas, and has used it to implement a number of changes designed to enhance player experience. Recent CBT-driven improvements include more boss spawns, additional controller support, added chat capabilities, and changes to PvP rules. More than one-third of TERA CBT players chose to make characters on PvP servers, and 200,000 PvP battles waged across the landscape during the closed beta tests.
As players sampled TERA’s seven races and eight classes, clear favorites emerged. Castanics were the most popular character race, followed closely by humans and high elves. Warriors led the way in player classes, with sorcerers and slayers close behind.
Next, En Masse employees and TERA fans from all over the world will meet again in the open beta test, beginning April 19, and the head start weekend, which opens the world of TERA up to preorder consumers on April 28 in preparation for the May 1 launch.
