'The Bluecoats: North vs. South' Shows Off Some Minigames - Screens

by Rainier on April 20, 2012 @ 12:27 p.m. PDT

The first version of North & South, adapted from the Bluecoats comics book, was launched by Infogrames in 1989. The game takes place during the American Civil War and gamers plays the Northern Army.

In the new version, "The Bluecoats: North and South" players will access to an in-game shop with lots of items. They will can buy this items to reverse the situation on the battlefield. For example, new units creation, health bonus for mini-game or storm protection will be available.

Unlike to the 1989 version, the battles between Northern and Southern army are more user-friendly to play with the mouse or the finger (in the iOS and Androïd version). Gamers will can quickly move their units in real-time on the field.

In the previous version, the game ended with the annihilation of the enemy. In "The Bluecoats: North and South", the party will end with resources annihilation. If the enemy lose its soldiers but controls a fort or the railway, the game is not over because he can product units. With this new objective, battle will be longer.

Gamers can attack or defend the Forts, through a shooting mini-game. During the battle, Sergent Chesterfield can take cover...but not forever.

In the Train attack/defense, the objective is to catchup with the railway engine. As the striker, the player (Caporal  Blutch) is running behind the train and has to avoid Southern soldiers and natural obstacles. As the defender, the player has to stop the Southern soldier by every possible means.

Please note that a multiplayer mode won't be present at the new version release, due to the gameplay changes and platforms characteristics (for example, it's very hard to play together on the same device). But, nothing is over and a multiplayer mode could be added in the future.
