'Quantum Conundrum' (ALL) To Get Two Premium Puzzle Packs - Screens

by Rainier on July 24, 2012 @ 3:21 p.m. PDT

Quantum Conundrum is a multidimensional puzzle game where you manipulate your surroundings with the Interdimensional Shift Device (a glove) in order to find your uncle, an inventor who is lost in another dimension.

In Quantum Conundrum, players take on the role of a young kid dropped off on his uncle’s doorstep for the weekend; his uncle just so happens to be the brilliant, eccentric inventor, Professor Fitz Quadwrangle. Upon entering the Professor’s vast manor home retrofitted with crazy technology to test his latest hypotheses, players quickly realize their uncle has gone missing. Fortunately, players soon gain access to Professor Quadwrangle’s latest invention, the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device, which, at the press of a button, will shift the world around them to an entirely new dimension. In order to find him, players must use the newly found IDS Device to dynamically change the world to and from a variety of different dimensions to progress through the complicated Quadwrangle Manor. While on the journey, becoming adept at utilizing the various dimensions will help them trek from one bizarre and challenging room to the next. It might sound easy enough, but it is a tall order for a kid in a giant puzzle of a manor!

Players in Quantum Conundrum will be given access to five unique dimensions via the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device (IDS), an invention created by their Uncle, the brilliant, eccentric inventor, Professor Fitz Quadwrangle.  Those five dimensions include Normal, Fluffy, Slow-Mo, Reverse Time, and Heavy Dimension. With their Uncle mysteriously vanished, players must use the IDS to help them solve puzzles by controlling the world around them through the switching of dimensions.  Only by altering the laws of physics and time itself can players move from room to room in their Uncle’s vast and weirdly complex manor home.

The Desmond Debacle

In The Desmond Debacle, the first puzzle pack, gamers will power up the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device for a brand new adventure deep in an unexplored wing of the labyrinthine Quadwrangle Manor. Old friend Desmond, the drinking bird, offers up even more brain-twisting and complex puzzles for hours of inter-dimensional puzzle solving.

IKE-aramba!

In IKE-aramba!, the second puzzle pack, gamers are charged with rescue duty once again, but instead of a missing uncle, this time the victim is IKE (Interdimensional Kinetic Entity)! In this all-new adventure, players will have to rescue IKE and leap seemingly endless chasms while traveling through a newly discovered  wing of Quadwrangle Manor.

The two puzzle packs, “The Desmond Debacle” and “IKE-aramba!” are expected to be available later this summer and will add hours of additional puzzles and adventure through the twisted Quadwrangle Manor.  The Desmond Debacle will release July 31 on Steam for $2.99; August 14 on PlayStation Network for $2.99; and August 15 for Xbox Live online entertainment network for 240 Microsoft Points. IKE-aramba! will release August 28 on Steam for $2.99; September 11 on PlayStation Network for $2.99; and September 12 for Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 for 240 Microsoft Points. Players who purchased the “Season Pass” option via Steam will receive both of these puzzle packs for free.

Key Features

  • Engaging Puzzle Gameplay: Using the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device, players will shift to and from various dimensions to manipulate the world around them and clear levels with increasing degrees of difficulty.
  • Experience New Dimensions: Each dimension the player gains access to becomes a valuable asset to manipulate objects in the manor in a specific way. For example, the Fluffy Dimension makes heavy objects ten times lighter, enabling players to move what was once an immovable safe from one place to the next.
  • Immersive, Interactive Environment: In addition to the various dimensions allowing the player to learn new skills and techniques, the look and feel of each dimension is completely distinct. When shifting to the Fluffy Dimension, everything in the room becomes soft and plushy like a cuddly version of its previous state. Every dimension carries its own atmosphere, letting the player feel like they are truly in the world.
  • Unique Art Style and Humor: The Professor’s manor and all the items within it have a unique style, but that’s not all. Players should be on the lookout for humorous touches and jokes scattered throughout the manor home. Who wouldn’t want to know what the infamous Professor Quadwrangle looks like in the Fluffy Dimension?
