The match engine has been improved and features enhanced AI, improved lighting, better player animation, individual player character and kit models, and more realistic player reaction to incidents. Player roles and team strategies are even more prominent. The transfer module has been revamped to be more realistic. and it can be done in the traditional turn-based method or using the new "live" system.
FM 2014 features better interaction between players, managers, rival teams and the media. The UI has also been overhauled to be more user friendly, and the language more closely corresponds to the real football world.
