Hundreds of thousands of PS4 owners have embraced the integrated streaming capabilities of Sony's next-gen console as there have been nearly 800,000 gameplay broadcasts and more than 7.1 million spectate sessions via video streaming platforms, Twitch and Ustream, totaling more than 20 million minutes of live gameplay streamed from PS4 systems.
Ten percent of all content on Twitch has come from PS4 systems since the November 15 launch in the U.S. and Canada and the November 29 launch in Europe, Australasia and Latin America, based on average minutes broadcast. Ustream is reporting an average of 31 minutes of streaming per broadcaster.
"PlayStation 4 is specifically designed so people can share their gaming experiences and interest in streaming live gameplay has surpassed our wildest expectations," said Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios. "We're very excited to see gamers embrace live streaming from their PS4 system and we look forward to seeing how PlayStation gamers advance social gaming in the coming years."
Broadcasting and other social features can be easily accessed through the dedicated "SHARE" button on the Dualshock 4 wireless controller, which has been a hit with fans who have pressed it and accessed the Share Menu more than 10.9 million times..
