'Gears of War: Judgment' (X360) Gets Execution Mode and Free Multiplayer Map

by Rainier on March 29, 2013 @ 11:22 a.m. PDT

Gears of War: Judgment takes you back before events of the original Gears of War trilogy to the immediate aftermath of Emergence Day, which is the defining event of the GoW universe. Follow Kilo Squad, led by Damon Baird and Augustus "The Cole Train" Cole, as they fight to save the city of Halvo Bay from an unstoppable enemy.

Gears of War: Judgment delivers the most intense and challenging Gears of War game yet, with a campaign that takes you back to the immediate aftermath of Emergence Day — the defining event of the Gears of War universe — to test your mettle in highly competitive new multiplayer modes.

Set years before the events of the previous Gears of War trilogy, Judgment centers on Kilo Squad, a troop of soldiers led by Damon Baird and Augustus "The Cole Train" Cole. They are joined by newcomers to the Gears series, Sofia Hendricks and Garron Paduk, as they attempt to save the besieged city of Halvo Bay from a terrifying new enemy.

Starting today, begin the executions courtesy of MAXIM and Epic Games with the first game add-on for “Gears of War: Judgment.” The DLC includes the return of the wildly popular multiplayer mode Execution and a new multiplayer map called Haven, which will be free for a limited time only.

In Execution mode, the objective of each team is to kill all members of the enemy team before the time limit runs out. The catch? Unless hit with a one-shot kill weapon like the Booshka, players go into a “Down But Not Out” state and will revive at the end of the bleed-out timer instead of dying. To finish the job, perform an Execution on a downed enemy.

In addition to the new mode and map, special playlists for both Haven and Execution will be available for Gearheads, offering 200% XP boosts for a limited time (VIP pass holders will receive 300% XP boosts in the VIP playlist).

You must download the DLC pack directly from the game’s title menu or the Xbox 360 dashboard. You can also add it to your download queue with this link via Xbox.com. The dialogue box prompting you to download the pack in the matchmaking menu is not functioning properly and will be fixed as soon as possible.
