Atomhawk call the art style ‘Western Art, Eastern Heart’, due to its blend of epic western fantasy art, captivating narrative and heart warming character relationships, influenced by Japanese creators like Miyazaki.
The story follows a young girl called Sarina, who embarks on an epic quest to save her dying mother, on the way she befriends Toru, a giant stone golem - the unlikely couple go on a treacherous adventure together, across wild and beautiful lands.
The Realm is set in the far distant future, when the world has been reclaimed by nature. Once proud cities now lay abandoned – overgrown with strange plants and twisted vines. Magic and mysticism has returned to earth and there are strange creatures lurking in the forests.
In The Realm, the player controls both heroes – Sarina and Toru. To complete the adventure you must learn to utilize the unique abilities of both characters to solve the many puzzles and overcome the threats that dwell in The Realm.
Collaborating developer studios Atomhawk & Lantern Interactive were looking to raise £195,000 through Kickstarter but only managed to scrounge up £94,527. While plans for the future of the game are uncertain, The Realm is currently still on Valve's Greenlight, so fans interested in supporting the game can go vote for it now.
