Ryse: Son of Rome tells the story of a young Roman soldier named Marius who witnesses the murder of his family at the hands of barbarian bandits, then travels with the Roman army to Britannia to seek revenge. Quickly rising through the ranks, Marius leads the Roman army against the barbarian horde, and then discovers that he must return to Rome to find his vengeance.

Fight as a soldier. Lead as a general. Rise as a legend.

Onw of the more interesting features coming to Ryse: Son of Rome was the scheduled challenge editor which would allow players to use the Xbox One's SmartGlass technology and create their own objectives to share and use in the game's co-op mode. As it seems however that plan is being abandoned.

"After careful consideration, we have decided to cease development on Ryse: Son of Rome's challenge editor and focus on improving and expanding fans' experience with the game through both free content updates and purchased add-on packs," the spokesperson said. "We look forward to sharing more details soon."
