Initially Square Enix had stated that the new Tomb Raider sales were below expectations, while Crystal Dynamics' Darrell Gallagher announced that the game had set a franchise sales record by being the fastest-selling title in the series with its 3.4 million units sold in three weeks.

Now a year after launch Darrell Gallagher revealed that the Tomb Raider reboot is apporaching 6 million units sold, and as such has exceeded profit expectations.
