'Distance' Coming to Steam Early Access - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 12, 2014 @ 9:05 a.m. PDT

Distance is an atmospheric racing platformer that fuses futuristic arcade racing with parkour, and challenges players to survive a deadly, mysterious, neon-drenched city by jumping, rotating, and flying.

Distance fuses the intense action of arcade racing with the exploration of a mysterious world. You control a unique car that allows you to boost, jump, rotate, and even fly through a chaotic city. The private beta currently features a short single player campaign, as well as additional split-screen and online multiplayer modes such as Sprint, Reverse Tag, Stunt, and Soccer. It also includes a powerful level editor which is connected to Steam Workshop.

Refract's experimental survival racer will be available for download on Steam Early Access this fall, and they plan to announce the official release date in the coming weeks. Distance was recently released as a private beta on Windows, Mac, and Linux to over 6,000 backers last month after 2 years of development.

As of this week there are 100 user-created levels published on Distance’s  Steam Workshop! To celebrate hitting 100 levels, Refract will be streaming a live developer playthrough of the latest community-created levels tomorrow (Sept. 13th). The stream will be viewable at 1pm PST (4pm EST / 10pm CET) on Twitch.

You can pre-order the public beta (Steam Early Access) release of Distance and get instant access to behind-the-scenes updates.
