Samurai Warriors 4 brings players the ability to complete the journal of officers’ lives in the new Chronicle Mode as they journey across the lands of Japan while completing various quests, meeting new officers and collecting items.
The Create Character feature has been upgraded, with even more customizations for players to create unique officers and leave their own personal stamp on the history of the Warring States era. Special quests will also be made available which enable you to obtain rare weapons that are difficult to obtain within Story Mode.
Samurai Warriors 4offers players an impressive roster of 55 warriors including the introduction of Takatora Todo, who now serves Ieyasu Tokugawa and appears emotionless though he holds his intense emotions deep within, Kagakatsu Uesugi, who lets his actions speak for him as he trains diligently to live up to his father’s reputation as the “God of War” and Munenori Yagyu, a lethal swordsman trained in the Shinkage style who believes the sword can be an instrument of life as well as death. The game also includes the introduction of Kojuro Katakura from the Date clan known as ”Kojuro the Wise” for his aptitude with strategical warfare, the “Maid of Misfortune” Koshosho who uses her bewitching beauty to bend the will of men of Shikoku, and the graceful ruler Naotora, who has assumed leadership of the Li clan in her fight to deliver peace to Enshu. Additionally, updated characters from the series return in Samurai Warriors 4 including Hanzo, Hideyoshi, Ieyasu, Ina, Masamune, Motochika, Nene, Tadakatsu and Yoshimoto.
Newly updated characters from the series include Aya, Masanori Fukushima, Kiyomasa Kato, Kanbei Kuroda, Keiji Maeda, Toshiie Maeda, Katsuie Shibata, Hanbei Takenaka and Kenshin Uesugi.
The deeper focus on each faction’s dramatic history in Samurai Warriors 4tells their legendary tales through Regional stories which carry to the main story of unification. The Legend of Kinki follows Nagamasa, young ruler of the Azai Clan that rules Northern Omi, as he sets out alongside his wife, Oichi and his retainers Takatora Todo and Yoshitsugu Otani, in pursuit of his dreams. In the Legend of the Uesugi, Kenshin Uesagi, known as the Dragon of Echigo and the God of War goes forth to aid those desperately pleading for his aid and continue to emblazon his majestic strategies into the memories of all who witness his destruction. There are also the Legend of Shikoku in which Motochika Chosokabe confronts a mysterious beauty amongst a sea of enemies, the Legend of Tokugawa following Ieyasu’s journey to greatness and the Legend of Tohuku as Masamune vows to expands the lands under his domain.
