Players are responsible for managing various aspects of their prison including staff, building new cells, finance, and keeping their inmates happy.
The player's role is of both architect and governor with sandbox micro-management themes such as choosing where to put lights, drains and how they connect together.
Prison Architect became one of the first ‘Early Access’ games when it launched on Steam in 2012, and for the past 3 years has received numerous updates.
There you go.... we're committed!
We've had an incredible ride and at 1650 GMT on 29 Jan 15 we have sold 1,066,233 units - that's an amazing number and we want to thank all our the players, and of course the press for helping us to get here.
We still committed to the PC Alpha process, but we also want to build on this success and I'm happy to announce that we're branching out. We're currently developing a mobile version and we've also teamed up with John Cook at Bad Management LLP. We've wound him up, pointed him at GDC and we're firing him across the Atlantic like a deal-seeking missile to find us a retail partner and a publisher to help us work on a console version.
