The Great War places you in the role of national leader with the power to choose your own path and change the course of history. The turn based historical strategy title challenges players to prevail while maintaining control of their empire amidst global instability, rising nationalism and expanding war.
Making History: The Great War will be featured at a premiere launch event at the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City on Saturday, January 31st. At the event, attendees will get to play the game and attend a presentation by Muzzy Lane developers.
"The history of World War I on its own presents an incredibly interesting theme for a game like Making History,” says Making History designer Ralph Gerth, “ It's so much more diverse than trenches, gas attacks and the Western Front. These were vast empires engaged in a global struggle with historic consequences that persist today. " Gerth says the National World War I Museum is the ideal place for a launch event. "A key goal of the museum is to make the experiences of the World War I era meaningful and relevant for present and future generations. With Making History: The Great War, players can be part of creating a new historical trajectory and world that might have been."
Making History: The Great War has attracted the attention of educators including economic historian Niall Ferguson. “Students in my Strategy and Crisis spring seminar at Harvard will play Making History: The Great War,” Ferguson says. “Making History is much more than just a wargame. It models the crucial economic and demographic factors as well as the process of strategic decision-making. Playing the game will give my students a much better idea of the choices Europe's leaders faced as World War I unfolded.”
"We are thrilled to launch Making History: The Great War at the museum," said National World War I Museum President & CEO Dr. Matthew Naylor. "Muzzy Lane Software's track record of creating compelling, engaging and educational games played by individuals across the world speaks for itself. The timing for the launch of this game coincides with the Centennial of World War I and the Museum's efforts to provide programs that help people derive lessons and meaning from the Great War and its enduring impact on the world."
Making History: The Great War is currently available at a variety of digital stores, including Steam, Gamer's Gate, and the company's Making History website, and is playable on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. The game will remain at the discounted price of $29.99 until launch, at which point it will be available at a cost of $39.99.
