5TH Cell, makers of Scribblenauts, will announce their next game on October 21, 2015, which will be an original IP (not tied to any other property), and will seek both investment and reward backing through FIG.

5TH Cell adds to the growing list of independent developers that plan to launch new campaigns on Fig, including Obsidian Entertainment, inXile Entertainment, Double Fine Productions, and the recently announced Harmonix.

Founded in 2003 by Jeremiah Slaczka, Joseph M Tringali and Marius Fahlbusch, 5TH Cell garnered worldwide acclaim with the release of its innovative franchise Scribblenauts, which won many awards including Best of E3. The Scribblenauts franchise has sold over 13 million copies and entertained millions of gamers around the world, and spawned original titles all developed or co-developed by 5TH Cell. 5TH Cell’s portfolio of titles also include the multi-million selling franchise Drawn to Life and the iOS breakaway hit Run Roo Run.

“At 5TH Cell, we’re excited about our latest original IP, which introduces new gameplay innovations and is set in a deep and engaging universe unlike any other. We look forward to bringing on investors who want to share in the future financial success of the title, while helping us to bring the game’s unique universe to life,” said Jeremiah Slaczka, CEO and Creative Director at 5TH Cell. “We watched Fig’s first campaign, Outer Wilds, attract over $800K in potential accredited investment and felt that of all the funding platforms, Fig’s was the perfect fit for our new IP.”

Fig provides a featured crowdfunding experience that strikes a balance between titles from well-known independent studios and ones from up-and-coming indie teams. Fig allows accredited investors to participate in the potential success of a game title by investing in Fig’s co-publishing company, which holds a license to certain distribution rights to the title.

Fig’s first campaign was Outer Wilds from Mobius Digital achieved its funding goal. The title won the 2015 Independent Games Festival (IGF) Awards Grand Prize and Excellence in Design and reached its funding goal with a mix of investment and reward-based backers. While the amount of investment Outer Wilds took was capped, it attracted over $800K in accredited investment interest.

Accredited investors interested in pre-registering for Fig’s 5TH Cell campaign can do so now via Fig’s new online accreditation process .
