'The AlterVerse' Announced - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on May 21, 2015 @ 6:21 p.m. PDT

The AlterVerse is a virtual reality world-creation platform in which players can compete, collaborate, create and quest, as they battle for supremacy in a vast online universe.

Imagine a three-way combo of Skyrim, Minecraft and Second Life: a virtual world in which players can compete, collaborate, create and quest, as they battle for supremacy in a vast online universe.

In The AlterVerse, players can craft fantastic worlds on their own Realm Server, and play an engaging, exciting game across a variety of alien landscapes - spanning themes from sci-fi to fantasy and more besides. With a Realm Server, players can create peaceful home environments, epic PVP battle arenas, or even a first-person shooter level. The sky's the limit.

The AlterVerse is also built from the ground up with VR in mind. You don't need a VR headset to play The AlterVerse, but we think it makes things a whole lot more interesting...

With intricate quests, immersive environments, PvP and PvE action, full economy and crafting systems, hunting and fishing, built-in voice chat, instant messaging, mounts and more, The AlterVerse represents half a decade of hard work - and the studio hopes to release the game later this year on Steam.

Creator of The AlterVerse, Scot Kinney, described the game: "It's part-MMO, part-content creation kit, and part-VR universe. This journey began many years ago with Aureus VR. It was kind of like an online virtual community where players could build homes and villages. The problem was, it was missing any kind of gameplay element. Switching to a game engine, we later created Blood Clans, but it lacked the building features. So, for the past few years, Michael Reno - our lead programmer - and I, along with a small team from all around the world, have been bringing these two elements together to create the game of our dreams."

Fans interested in The AlterVerse can support the game on Steam Greenlight.
