'Noct' Gets Release Date, Soundtrack By NIN Guitarist - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 21, 2015 @ 3:20 p.m. PDT

Noct is a multiplayer monster survival horror action adventure game which utilizes a minimalist visual approach.

Once our home and record of modern civilization, the Earth is ruined wasteland engulfed in perpetual darkness. Older than any recorded texts, and ancient evil desceneded upon our world without warning, consuming the population and leaving only despair behind in its wake. The unfortunate survivors of this purge now struggle to overcome the horrific terrors of the Nocturnal.

Players take on the role of a survivor adventuring through a world turned wasteland consisting of desolation and terror. Your gameplay experience is viewed through a keyhole thermal imaging satellite system, which tracks your survivor throughout the course of the game. The entire game world is persistent. Players may choose to connect to, or host their own world servers which they can adventure in. This allows players to interact with other survivors in Noct if they wish, or make their game experience strictly a solo affair. Players must scavenge weapons, rations, utility items, and other provisions from the game world to survive.

Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck and musician Worldclock have scored Noct’s evocative soundtrack and fans can grab a free track from the coming 12-track soundtrack.

"“I was invited into the world of Noct to compliment the established work of Wordclock, and to collaborate, bringing a spirited sense of melody and hope to an utterly devastated terrain, one enshrouded in despair and haunted by....creepy fucking monsters,” said Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck. “It has been a hair raising experience, cooperating to design the immersion of this audio trek. The team are each scrupulous creatures and together we enjoy turning over many stones."

Noct will be playable at this weekend’s Twitchcon in San Francisco prior to its launch.

Do whatever you must to protect your survivor’s only life as you traverse the desolate landscape, observing the game world through a high contrast thermal imaging satellite. The haunting, atmospheric score and accompanying sounds by Wordclock (Pedro Pimentel) complete the immersion into the post-apocalyptic world.

Key Features:

  • Scavenge and Survive: Players must scavenge weapons, rations, utility items, and other provisions from the wasteland to survive the harsh world and defend themselves from the evil in the dark.
  • Persistent Online World: The entire game world is persistent. Players may choose to connect to, or host their own world servers which they can adventure in. This allows players to interact with other survivors in Noct if they wish, or make their game experience strictly a solo affair.
  • Unspeakable Horrors: Battle the dozens of nightmares that stalk around in the night and leave their dead carcasses as a warning to others or flee into the wild and leave your fellow companions to satiate your pursuers.
