For the first time in a Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six game, players will engage in sieges, a new style of assault where enemies have the means to transform their environments into modern strongholds while Rainbow Six teams lead the assault to breach the enemy’s position. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege gives players unprecedented control over their ability to fortify their position - by reinforcing walls and floors, using barbed wire, deployable shields and mines, and more - or breach the enemies’ using observation drones, sheet charges, rappelling, and more. The fast pace, lethality and uniqueness of each siege sets a new bar for intense firefights, strategic gameplay and competitive gaming.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege also features a technological breakthrough that redefines the way players interact with a game environment. Leveraging Ubisoft Montreal’s proprietary Realblast engine, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege incorporates procedural destruction that is realistic and unscripted, meaning the environment reacts authentically, distinctively and dynamically, based on variables like the caliber of bullets or the amount of explosives used. This advance allows players to leverage destruction in meaningful ways. Walls can be shattered, opening new lines of fire. Ceilings and floors can be breached to create new access points. This ability to modify the level design in real time enables players to create new gameplay opportunities directly within the game level.
Thank you to everyone who has been participating in the Rainbow Six Siege Closed Beta thus far. This is one of the largest betas that Ubisoft has ever done, and needless to say, we’ve learned a lot since last Thursday and are looking forward to sharing with you the impact of this testing period on our game at launch, on December 1st.
We’ve already identified areas for long-term improvement for launch on our dedicated servers and matchmaking, and we’ve also pushed several updates that have helped ease the experience for the short-term.
Moreover, just as we did after the Closed Alpha and Road to Montreal, we will be getting back to you with how the collected data and your feedback has affected the game.
For now, with access issues mostly resolved, we are taking the following actions:
- Closed Beta extended through the rest of the weekend, ending on October 4th.
- Starting today, we will begin sending emails to all American and European players who have played at least one match in the Closed Beta before 2:00PM EST, September 29th 2015. These emails will contain immediate access codes that can be used by the players to get their friends in the beta. Those keys will be for the same platform as the player who qualified for friend referral. For example, if a player plays on Xbox One, he will receive additional Xbox One keys for his or her friends.
- There will be a Double Renown event starting Friday, 8:00PM EST with a 2x renown bonus. This is a great chance to unlock some more operators, attachments and skins.
Not only will this give you all more time play, it will give us more time to collect more data, feedback and identify potential issues.
The beta registration page will be taken down on October 1st and guaranteed access codes will be redeemable until October 2nd.
Some other important pieces of information:
- PvP matchmaking has improved with an average wait time of 30-45 seconds.
- Terrorist Hunt has a 96% success rate per matchmaking attempt, with average 20-30 seconds of wait time.
- If it takes longer than 90 seconds to get into any game, we recommend backing out and trying again.
- If you are having difficulties matchmaking while in a squad, check out this list of potential workarounds.
- If you are a pre-order customer and feel you should have received your invite by now, please contact customer support using “[Activation] Missing Code” as the subject line. We will be keeping an eye out for those.
Thank you again for your participation, your patience, and your support. We appreciate your collaboration with us in this testing period, and know that your input helps us improve the experience for all in the finished product. The Rainbow Six community has always been very important to us, and we look forward to being with you all long after launch as we continue to support and iterate on the game.
Please don’t forget to submit your feedback to us directly, or join the community on the subreddit and forums to participate in discussions about the game, see some cool content, and get important information.
Key Features
- Counter terrorist operatives are trained to handle extreme situations, such as hostage rescue, with surgical precision. As “short range” specialists, their training is concentrated on indoor environments. Operating in tight formations, they are experts of close quarter combat, demolition, and coordinated assaults.
- For the first time in Rainbow Six, players will engage in sieges, a brand-new style of assault. Enemies now have the means to transform their environments into strongholds: they can trap, fortify, and create defensive systems to prevent breach by Rainbow teams. To face this challenge, players have a level of freedom unrivaled by any previous Rainbow Six game. Combining tactical maps, observation drones, and a new rappel system, Rainbow teams have more options than ever before to plan, attack, and diffuse these situations.
- Destruction is at the heart of the siege gameplay. Leveraging Ubisoft Montreal’s proprietary Realblast engine, players now have the unprecedented ability to destroy environments. Walls can be shattered, opening new lines of fire, and ceiling and floors can be breached, creating new access points. Everything in the environment reacts realistically, dynamically, and uniquely based on the size and caliber of bullets you are using or the amount of explosives you have set. In Rainbow Six Siege, destruction is meaningful and mastering it is often the key to victory.
