'Knights and Bikes' (ALL) Kickstarter Successful, Stretch Goals Unveiled

by Rainier on Feb. 29, 2016 @ 2:21 a.m. PST

Knights and Bikes is a co-op action adventure game set in a beautifully hand painted 3D world, inspired by The Goonies, Earthbound and our own childhoods.

The game takes place on Penfurzy Island, off the coast of Cornwall, a place of medieval legend, and modern tourism. We pick up the story in the 1980s when the island faces fresh challenges that can only be met by the island's two most overlooked heroes: two young girls.

You play as Nessa and Demelza. Nessa is an outsider from the mainland, who is searching for her family's past. Inspired by her favourite video game, Demelza is an imaginative local who believes in the island's legend. Together they explore the island both on foot and on their bikes, searching for treasure, discovering new locations, recruiting new gang members and getting into trouble.

When their investigation awakens the malevolent spirits of history, the girls must use their unique skills, and their bikes, to save the island. They deal with the threat with bike-jousting, Frisbee-throwing, puddle-stomping and whatever other kid-like schemes they can improvise. And with each islander they rescue they learn new abilities to enable them to do more and travel further.

This is a game for anyone that ever wore their coat like a superhero cape, wondered if there was any treasure buried in the back-garden, and faced danger by peddling their bike at top speed into it.

We are proud to announce that over the weekend, Knights and Bikes passed the 100% funding mark raising over £100,000! When we launched our Kickstarter campaign four weeks ago, we hoped this moment would come, and now that it has, it feels more amazing than we ever could have imagined.

The campaign doesn't end until 9PM GMT on the 3rd of March so we will continue pushing in the hopes of making the game even better. Instead of adding more scope and content, we have announced two stretch goals that will enhance the vision for Knights and Bikes that we already have.

Online Co-op (£120,000): We think that sharing the experience of Knights and Bikes with a friend will be a very special experience and online co-op will enable more people to play it that way.

Voice Acting (£150,000): Giving literal voices to our cast of characters will bring the further to life and also allow us to deliver more story in a less intrusive way.

Key Features

  • Local Co-Op - Play through the game with AI helpers, or with friends controlling the other characters in your party.
  • Explore - Jump on your bikes and explore the island following the ever trusty beak of Captain Honkers, your pet goose.
  • Treasure - Trade collected treasure to upgrade your bike and acquire new abilities.
  • Quests - Prove yourselves worthy saviours of the island by rescuing loved ones, finding ancient relics, and solving mysteries.
  • Battle - Fight like kids do - use your ingenuity to splash enemies with mud, swerve a Frisbee past their shields, hack video game hardware to use against them, or make a fast getaway on your bikes
