'Cities: Skylines' Gets Free Match Day DLC, New Patch

by Rainier on June 9, 2016 @ 8:30 a.m. PDT

Cities: Skylines pulls players out of the public transportation offices and grants them the power of true urban planning and development.

Inhabit a world where you define the rules.

Cities: Skylines invites you to create the city of your dreams in a sprawling landscape dominated by cloud hugging structures and jaw dropping architectural marvels.

Create the cities of their dreams in Cities: Skylines, a massive city simulator from the creators of the Cities in Motion series. Vast backdrops and maps provide players with countless ways to improve and expand their cities, building from humble beginnings up to beautiful, cloud-hugging structures and unique architectural marvels.

You’re only limited by your imagination, so take control and reach for the sky!

Available for free to all players of Cities: Skylines, the new 'Match Day' DLC allows mayor-players to add stadiums to their towns – and comes with all of the benefits and challenges of hosting major sporting events in their citizens’ backyard.

The free “Match Day” DLC includes:

  • Colosseum Order: Build a stadium in your city and become the home of a major sports franchise
  • Read the Match Notes: Prepare for increased traffic coming to and from your arena on match day – and reap the rewards from ticket revenue
  • Team Workshop: Customize your local team colors and enact new stadium-related policies
  • A New Hat for Chirper: YEAH there is

In addition to an assortment of fixes and updates to Cities: Skylines, today's new patch unlocks five custom in-game items for all players which had previously only been available with pre-orders. To thank their community for their ongoing support, all players will now have access to the Carousel, Dog Park, Bouncy Castle, Basketball Court, and Botanical Garden in-game (since it was prohibitively difficult to invite all 2-million-plus players to these locations out-of-game).
