'Infinium Strike' (ALL) Broken Overlord DLC Announced - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on July 28, 2016 @ 6:44 p.m. PDT

Infinium Strike is a tower defense game that puts you in charge of weapon systems aboard Freedom Strike, the largest and most heavily armed ship in human history, as you defend against hordes of sentient alien ships, called The Wrog.

Set hundreds of years in the future, humans are on the brink of extinction after decades of intergalactic colonization. The Wrog, a race of sentient alien ships, will stop at nothing until mankind is eradicated. All hope appeared lost until the discovery of a liquid metal known as Infinium. Harnessing the power of Infinium, humanity has built Freedom Strike, the strongest battlecarrier in the universe.

With Infinium Strike: Broken Overlord players will again be taking command of the Freedom Strike’s weapon systems. Thrown into new deep space battles of a new mini-campaign, they will fight for hours not only to save the human race, but also to free the space beasts known as Bubba from their enslavement by the Wrog.

Intensively developing innovative battle technologies, both sides will now have access to new specialized ships. For Freedom Strike, the option to free the Bubba and close Wrog portals will become available. Painters in the dry docks will be working hard to dress the ship in war paint through new themes and decals.

The Wrog are a threat to many civilizations and life forms across the universe. And while humans are in danger of being wiped out, other creatures may prove useful for the Wrog campaign of death and destruction. Such is the case of the Bubba - a species of deadly space beasts that the Wrog managed to enslave using mind controlling devices. The Bubba have become an effective part in the plan to annihilate humankind.

But now we know how to set the enslaved Bubba free. Freedom Strike's ship-printing schematics have been upgraded with designs of two new ships - Freedom Void, able to disrupt the mind-dominating devices of the Wrog, and Nuke Avenger, carrying a massive nuclear weapon capable of shutting down Wrog portals. Use these new ships to strike a blow to the offensive power of the Wrog! But beware of new secret upgrades on the enemy's side!

In order to play this content, the base game Infinium Strike is required.

  • New mini-campaign with several missions to complete
  • Two new TSF Ships: Freedom Void and Nuke Avenger
  • Customization Pack containing themes and decals
  • A new enemy ship: Bertha Thief
Infinium Strike: Broken Overlord, will be available on PC (Windows, Linux, Mac) and PS4/XOne in 2017.

As chief weapons officer of the Freedom Strike, it is up to the player to maintain the spaceship’s defenses as the Wrog attack from four sides. The player is given a wide selection of weapons systems to utilize on the four battlefronts, including:

  • Turrets – Employ eight types of automatically firing weapons, each with its own advantages and disadvantages for particular classes of enemy ships. Building or upgrading turrets requires Infinium.
  • Fleets of battleships – Send a swarm of heavily armed spaceships to attack the Wrog. Deploying battleships requires fleet points, which are accumulated over time.
  • SuperTech – The most powerful weapon in a player’s arsenal, SuperTech can do everything from increasing resources collected from destroyed Wrog to attacking every ship in a quadrant. SuperTech has a 90-second cooldown.

Infinium Strike offers two game modes. In campaign mode, players advance through 10 missions in their quest to defeat the Wrog. Deep Space serves as an endless arcade mode in which players test their skills against endless waves of Wrog. Each player receives the same enemy attack patterns in Deep Space, allowing gamers to battle for the top spot on the leaderboards.
