Heroes & Generals eliminates the formulaic baggage that weighs down the shooter genre by delivering satisfying strategic action in a full blown first-person shooter experience. Players are transported from the comfort of their browsers to authentic WWII battlefields, where they fight alongside thousands of gamers for persistent progression and military supremacy.
Each player in Heroes & Generals chooses their own destiny. You might join the Axis and climb the ranks as a foot soldier, firing off countless rounds in epic battles for crucial landmarks. Or perhaps you’ll become a general in the US army and accept the task of deploying resources and reinforcements across a vast strategic map.
Either way your decisions and actions fundamentally impact the game. Whether you play a fearless infantryman blazing the trenches, a hotshot pilot renowned for precision bombing runs, a brutal gunner assigned to a rumbling tank battalion, or the ace commander directing it all from strategic command – every active soldier contributes to an evolving online war that will soon expand to smartphones and tablets as well.
The skies are about to become even more dangerous in Heroes & Generals as three new fighter planes are taking off and the addition of new options for flight controls makes it easier to be a pilot.
“Flying a plane in Heroes & Generals with the new default controls is basically as easy as aiming the mouse at where you want to go,” explains Jacob Andersen, Game Director at Reto-Moto: “However, it takes skills to be a good pilot which is why we have chosen to include different types of flight control options in Heroes & Generals to suit individual play styles and to make it fun to be a pilot for both new and veteran players.”
The three new planes in the 'Wings of War'-update are:
- The Soviet Heavy Fighter Petlyakov Pe-3bis
- The German Heavy Fighter Messerschmitt Me 410B-2
- The US Medium Fighter Curtiss P-40N Warhawk
With the addition of these planes all three factions in the game now have a Reconnaissance airplane, a Medium Fighter, and a Heavy Fighter – making a difference in both battles and the strategic part of Heroes & Generals.
The 'Wings of War'-update also removes the recruitment limits, so players can now get a Tanker, Recon, Paratrooper, or Pilot when they want, no matter what Player Level they are.

Weapon Depot update
The behavior for mods is:
Modifications get uneqipped from the soldier and from the weapon when entering the depot, making them available for any suitable soldier and weapon. Once bound, the modification sticks to the soldier but is still freely transferable between suitable weapons. For Ammo:
Ammo is kept in the weapon, but once the weapon is given to a soldier, it becomes unequipped and usable for all unlocked weapons for that soldier. This applies retroactively, so mods previously unavailable will now be there in lieu of having to repurchase them with a new soldier.
