ION is a massive interconnected universe with fully simulated real-time environments, including air pressure, heat and cold, power grids and much more, which all must be carefully balanced to keep the unending vacuum of space at bay.
Eurogamer has statements from co-developer Improbably, as well as Dean Hall himself revealing that ION is no longer in active development.
"We can definitely say that Improbable is not currently working on Ion. However, we have not previously commented on and cannot now comment on RocketWerkz' current or future plans," Improbable.
"We're not actively working on Ion, no. I am not involved in that, no. Nor is RocketWerkz studio in New Zealand," Dean Hall.
Improbable has created groundbreaking online simulation technology. The company was founded in 2012 in London to develop an operating environment that makes building simulated worlds possible, simulating the behaviors and interactions of millions of entities in real time. Improbable is working with game developers like Dean Hall to deliver completely new experiences in games.
