The Town of Light is a first-person, psychological story-driven adventure game set in the Volterra Psychiatric Asylum – a former mental treatment facility based in Tuscany, Italy. The asylum was shut down in the late 1970s due to an Italian law that instructed all asylums to close completely and give back patients their civil rights.
You are a 16 years old schizophrenic girl. Your mind is a mess. You are there, alone with few memories, in the darkness, with your fears and loneliness. You don't know where you are, why you are there, who you are… You ask yourself “I'm sick, imprisoned, or…?” You can only feel that you are in one of the creepiest places in the world: the place of no return.
Renèe’s voice guides you in the game and through her eyes the player will live her story, her fears and her personal drama to never forget. The player will try to recreate her personality, freely exploring the environment, finding documents, reliving her hallucinations. The player can explore thousands of square meters inside the pavilions and dozens of hectares outside, faithfully recreated in 3D to shake the conscience and to immerse the player in an environment that led him to reflect on his own mental sanity. Oculus Rift adds a new dimension to the fear!
An enhanced edition of the original, in addition to Sóley’s emotion filled ballad, this new release of The Town of Light will offer a host of new puzzles, new story-supporting content, reworked voiceover dialogue, additional interactive elements and a huge graphical and UI overhaul that aims to deliver a more polished and immersive experience for its console debut and enhanced PC release.
The Town of Light is headed to PS4, Xbox One, and PC in physical and digital formats on June 6, 2017 for SRP £15.99/€19.99/$19.99. Existing owners of the digital PC version will receive an update and acquire this enhanced release free of charge.
