'Sundered' (ALL) Coming Later This Month - Trailer

by Rainier on July 14, 2017 @ 5:11 p.m. PDT

Sundered is a horrifying fight for survival and sanity, a handdrawn epic where you play Eshe, a wanderer in a ruined world, trapped in ever changing caverns teeming with eldritch horrors.

Harness the power of corrupted relics to defeat gigantic bosses, at the  cost of your humanity. Resist or Embrace.

Building on Jotun’s success, Thunder Lotus took what worked from the game (the art style, the big boss fights, the immersion) and fused it with infinite replayability and the nonlinear action-packed gameplay of the metroidvania genre to create the studio's highly anticipated sophomore game, Sundered.

Sundered tells the story of the mysterious Terror, a cataclysmic event that causes the undoing of society and plunges the world into madness. You play Eshe, a scavenger who becomes trapped in strange sandstorm which drags her into a mysterious cavern. You have stumbled upon the source of power that led to the world’s destruction centuries ago.

The backstory tells the tale of how this strange power attracted the Valkyries, an armed group of scientific revolutionaries, and the Eschaton, mad cultists following the teachings of an obscure god, to this place. As she picks up the pieces, the player uncovers the conflict that sundered the world.

Sundered will be released on July 28th, 2017 on PC/Mac/Linux and PS4 for 19.99$ USD.. Pre-orders start today on Steam, PlayStation Store, GOG, and Uplay PC.

“I’m extremely excited to announce that Sundered is releasing on July 28th!” said Will Dubé, Creative Director and President of Thunder Lotus Games in a blog post accompanying the launch trailer. “From the announcement, to the Kickstarter, to the alphas and betas, the fans have supported us. We thank them with all our hearts and hope to blow their f****** minds!”

Thunder Lotus Games is celebrating the imminent release of its sophomore production with a victory lap for its first: the award-winning Jotun will be free to own on Steam and GOG this weekend, while a physical edition of Jotun has been released through popular publisher Limited Run Games.

Delve into a procedurally generated dungeon at the heart of a beautiful hand-drawn world. Classic Metroidvania elements such as backtracking, secrets and unlocking new abilities that open new regions are at the core of the exploration experience. Every time you die, the physical rooms in the dungeon are re-shuffled. Though the overall structure of the world is set in stone, subsections take a random sampling of preset rooms and assembles them to create a different flow every time. This adds a multiplicative layer of uncertainty, since the layer of randomness of the dungeon gets added over the already random monsters. The final game will have three unique regions, each with a multitude of monsters, secrets and challenges.

Confront hordes of dynamically spawned eldritch monsters. Put your skills and reflexes to the test through furious melee combat and epic boss fights against uniquely designed enemies. All monster spawns are dynamic, constantly keeping you on your toes.

Designed as a challenging adventure for seasoned gamers, frequent deaths are part of the Sundered experience. But taking our inspiration from our favorite rogue-like games, death in Sundered is only the beginning. When you die, you respawn in the Hub, where you level up and customize your character. Equip and upgrade a host of unique Perks, stats and special Abilities hidden throughout the world.

Key Features:

  • Beautiful handdrawn art
  • Massive boss fights
  • Dynamic encounters against hordes of enemies
  • Procedural world
  • Corruptible abilities
  • Multiple endings
