The story of the game revolves around a group of drop-out wizard apprentices, who've decided to skip their training for a quick path to the Nine Parchments. As the wannabe wizards rapidly discover powerful new spells and ignore all safety aspects, it's only natural that their hasty progress results in lots of unwanted deaths.
The Nine Parchments are a set of spells that wizards normally practice for a year each, totaling at least nine years at the wizards’ equivalent of a university — the Astral Academy.
The cast includes eight wizarding apprentices from various backgrounds, including a surprise appearance by the master of boxes himself from the Trine series, Amadeus!
Frozenbyte CEO Lauri Hyvärinen commented on the playable Nintendo Switch version: "We're huge fans of Switch here at Frozenbyte and are ecstatic to show a playable version of Nine Parchments! It's going to be a blast in co-op!"
Nine Parchments will be playable at gamescom at the Indie Arena Booth, and at the Indie MEGABOOTHatPAX West, and will be shown for the first time ever on Nintendo Switch! The demo will have four player co-op, and includes a boss battle against a dangerous, firebreathing Treasure Mantis.
