'Enoch: Downfall' Now Called 'Enoch: Underground' - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 14, 2017 @ 11:58 a.m. PDT

Enoch: Underground lets you dive into the colorful world of the classic roguelite RPG and step into the shoes of lone hero on the path through forgotten city.

The battle was lost ages ago and now the barren ruins hold nothing but echoes of once great civilization. Amidst the dust, few that remain are still clinging to their existence, far beyond the point where they could be called human.

But the hope still lingers.

On the outskirts of the forgotten city, a lone soul awakens from millennial slumber. Lost and forgotten, he finds himself in catacombs and now his way lies through the treacherous ruins to the very heart of it.

Enoch: Underground is a roguelite RPG that takes place below the ruins of an ancient city, destroyed by massive cataclysm a long time ago. You will take the role of the Awakened, one of the few survivors left in the city. Clueless of what’s going on around him, the hero fights his way through countless fearsome enemies, fighting for his life in procedurally assembled dungeons. Only his survival matters, everyone else need to perish!

Enoch: Underground is built around it’s combat system that is easily accessible to pick up and play, but complex enough to turn every battle into its own challenge. Character progression is entirely loot-based, no need to go through complicated character screens and skill trees, and yet, the variety of equipment gives a lot of room to experiment and find your own unique playstyle.

Combat in the game requires patience and precision. Different types of enemies, different environment layouts, different loot and enemy equipment – each variable adds to the complexity of encounters creating unique challenge every time you play. But the game gives enough room to experiment and make mistakes so you can learn your enemy’s attack patterns and devise a strategy to counter act them.

Enoch: Underground is designed to be tough but fair so each level completion feels rewarding but the game doesn’t make you want to rage quit. And while you will die a lot in the game, there are no checkpoints – every time it’s back to the start.

The gameplay is based on classic roguelike RPGs with such features as procedurally assembled environments, precise battle system and generous loot, but makes accessibility a staple of game’s design.

The character progression is entirely loot-based, eliminating the need for complex character menus while retaining flexibility and customization options. Each weapon type has unique stats and attack patterns, armor can provide additional protection and sometimes valuable buffs, trinkets and mutagens allow to change character’s abilities, providing an advantage in combat.

Encounters require patience and precision but give just enough room for error to get familiar with enemy’s attack patterns and develop a strategy to withstand them. The game is balanced to be hard but fair so that completing the playthrough gives the sense of achievement while the process of doing so does not feel like a chore.

Key Features:

  • Thoroughly crafted combat system – every enemy is a new challenge to overcome
