'Tacoma' (ALL) Comes To PS4 Next Month - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on April 24, 2018 @ 10:28 a.m. PDT

In Tacoma you will uncover the mysteries held by Lunar Transfer Station Tacoma and its crew, living at the edge of humanity's reach.

“Tacoma” puts you in control of Amy Ferrier, an independent contractor sent to Lunar Transfer Station Tacoma to recover sensitive data. As she explores the station, she unearths why the previous crew of six have been evacuated, gathering clues to what exactly went wrong.

Like “Gone Home,” it’s a game where you pull details of the narrative from the environment, both physical and digital.

“Tacoma” is a story about people and relationships, even in the isolation of outer space.

Tacoma is coming to PS4 on May 8, 2018-- and it's available to preorder right now on your PS4, for a special launch discount!

Tacoma takes advantage of some of the PS4's cool extra features-- including support for higher framerates or higher resolution on your PS4 Pro, as well as Remote Play on your PS Vita! When testing Remote Play on Vita, we found that exploring the world of Lunar Transfer Station Tacoma on that sharp little screen, curled up on the couch with this fictional place we built showing up as a little diorama in your hands, was just really, really cool. We hope folks who have a Vita will take advantage of the feature, and that everyone who's been waiting for Tacoma on PS4 will have a great time with the game

To celebrate Tacoma coming to PS4, and just generally to revisit the game in all the detail we can, we're adding over 2 hours of developer audio commentary to the game when it releases, which will be coming as a free update to PC and Xbox as well! Folks from the entire team did playthroughs of the game and found the developer-side bits and pieces that would lead to good stories and insight into how the game got made. You'll learn about just how many developer cats appear in the game, how our sound designer Patrick created the voice of Romeo the cleaner bot, where the inspiration for our non-linear story exploration mechanics came from, and much, much more from the folks who built this weird, ambitious little game of ours.

While we aim to make our games as seamless and immersive as possible, we also love hearing the weird behind-the-scenes stories of how our favorite games are made, where their inspirations came from, and all the tricks of the trade that went into bringing them to life – and that’s just what we aim to bring you with Tacoma’s Commentary Mode! Myself and my story partner Karla discuss the backstories of the characters and our speculative future world; our designers Tynan and Nina talk about all the ins and outs of how the station was built; Hannah our programmer and Noël our animator talk about building the AR scenes and bringing these characters to life; Patrick our sound designer shares insight into where the audio landscape of Tacoma came from; and even more folks jump in to talk about their roles in the creation of the game.

Tacoma is currently available on Xbox One and PC.
