'Super Bomberman R' (ALL) Update Adds Solid Snake Characters And More, New Rules & Stages - Trailer

by Rainier on June 27, 2018 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT

Super Bomberman R Online builds on the success of Super Bomberman R to offer a new and unique “Battle 64” mode for up to 64 players to compete in live battles across multiple stages, in addition to other game modes.

In Super Bomberman R, up to two players can work cooperatively in ‘Story’ mode to clear stages in order to save the galaxy. Guide a wide variety of Bomberman characters around maze-like areas using timed bombs to open walkways and take out opponents. Multiply the fun and play with up to eight players in ‘Battle’ mode, or jump into the competitive Grand Prix mode.

Designed specifically for future eSports initiatives, the new Grand Prix mode is a team versus mode that pits two teams of up to 3 players each to battle it out in different arena stages using new characters with special abilities.

The Grand Prix mode includes several matches:

  • "Crystal" Match – two teams compete to earn points by collecting crystals. Watch out for bombs! If you’re blown away you lose half of your crystals. The team with the most points at the end of the round wins.
  • “Basic Bomber” Match -- two teams compete against each other using standard Bomberman rules. Each team begins with a set number of lives. To win, take out your opponents to earn the most points before the time runs out.

Also, there is a new rule where the condition to clear the stage is not just by wiping out all the enemies. This simple but strategic game with new rules and 3D stages is fun for everyone, from children to adults.

A new patch available today for Super Bomberman R arrives with a group of exciting new characters, challenging rules, fun stages, and other various content and updates. The patch arrives a week after its launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam.

Super Bomberman R’s 2.1 update includes:

  • Fun new characters:
    • Solid Snake Bomber (voiced by David Hayter)
    • Naked Snake Bomber (voiced by David Hayter)
    • Raiden Bomber
    • Bill Bomber
    • Lance Bomber
    • Vic Viper ZERO Bomber
    • Ayako Katagiri Bomber
    • Ebisumaru Bomber
    • Xavier Woods Bomber
  • "Checkpoints" Rule – Adds a layer of excitement in Grand Prix mode as you scramble to take over the battlefield in checkpoints that appear in stage. How long you and your opponents stay in designated checkpoints will determine how many points you can earn - or lose. The team with the most points wins!
  • 3 New Stages – Uniquely themed stages offering additional challenges.
  • Themed Accessories – Fun new accessories from the Metal Gear, Contra, Origami and Cat series.

Additionally, fans in Long Beach, California, will be treated to Super Bomberman R during Dew Tour, a free summer skateboard competition and festival, held on June 28-July 1. In association with this event, Super Bomberman R will also feature special Dew Tour in-game items for character customization as part of the 2.1 patch.
