'Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire' (ALL) Beast of Winter Expansion And v2.0 Update Detailed, Dated - Trailer

by Rainier on July 12, 2018 @ 11:58 a.m. PDT

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is an isometric, party-based RPG, that improves upon the rich narrative, beautiful environments, and intricate, tactical combat from the original.

In Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, players embark on a dangerous voyage of discovery as they hunt down a god to save their own souls.

Inspired by classic titles such as Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of AmnIcewind Dale, and Planescape: TormentPillars of Eternity II: Deadfire will take players on a second fantastic journey to the world of Eora, this time to the vast, uncharted, Deadfire Archipelago where they will fight for their souls as they hunt down a god.

Eothas has returned. The god of light and rebirth was thought dead, but he now inhabits the stone titan that sat buried under your keep, Caed Nua, for millennia. Ripping his way out of the ground, he destroys your stronghold and leaves you at the brink of death. To save your soul, you must track down the wayward god and demand answers - answers which could throw mortals and the gods themselves into chaos.

Players travel the far-flung region of the titular Deadfire Archipelago by ship, where they will discover new races, visit exotic islands, defend their ships against pirates, and, most importantly, choose their allies carefully, as there are powerful factions to encounter at nearly every port. Bend the world to your will, as you explore the depths of infinite possibilities, including detailed character customization, total freedom of exploration, and more meaningful choices at every turn.

Upon receiving a missive from an isle of worshipers to the god of entropy and disaster, Beast of Winter takes the Watcher and his crew to the southernmost reaches of the Deadfire Archipelago. The Watcher is thought to be the harbinger of the end of all things and worshipers of the god of cold and decay, Rymrgand, have called upon the Watcher to fulfill their destiny.

Alongside the Beast of Winter DLC, Obsidian is also releasing the next major update to Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire with their 2.0 patch that will be free to everyone alongside their next free DLC, the “Deck of Many Things” Pack.

Along with a host of bug fixes and balance improvements, update 2.0 brings new challenge modes to Deadfire. These challenges will test player’s mettle in unique and interesting ways to play through the game. The “Deck of Many Things” pack is the largest free DLC to be released yet and has the mysterious merchant ship, The Deck of Many Things, arriving in the Deadfire looking to sell magical items its crew found on its journeys to the East.

The Beast of Winter expansion, update 2.0, and the Deck of Many Things Pack will all be available on August 2nd.

Building on the gameplay of the first Pillars of Eternity, every aspect of Deadfire has been improved and expanded. Vastly more detailed graphics, deeper game mechanics, increased player choice and reactivity, a new companion relationship system, streamlined combat, and an entirely new, hand-crafted adventure make Deadfire the ultimate cRPG experience.
