In GTFO, you and your friends will explore hostile and terrifying environments where, in an instant, you are thrown from edge-of-your-seat suspense to frantic action. It’s a large-scale experience, testing players in their ability to gear up and adapt to an endless string of unknown and ever-changing challenges.
10 Chambers Collective consists in part of founding members of Overkill Software and the game designer behind the PAYDAY franchise. With GTFO, they aim to explore and develop the 4-player co-op formula even further.
GTFO is a game with a thick atmosphere intercut by intense action - and the experienced development team shows its strengths in all aspects of the presentation.
Just the week after E3, the team attended Unity’s developer conference Unite Berlin - where the 3D engine developer highlighted the GTFO development team’s use of their Unity technology.
During the Unite Berlin keynote, GTFO’s Creative Director Ulf Andersson showed off some new gameplay as well as a previously unrevealed enemy. In the gameplay trailer shown, the co-op team can be seen wandering around the dark complex with one of the players picking up enemy movement on his motion tracker - but they can’t seem to see it with their bare eyes. Seconds later, the team explodes into a shooting frenzy with what seems to be hostile, living shadows.
“GTFO has an incredibly tense atmosphere where death lurks around every corner. With the Shadow enemy, death can lurk right in front of you but you can’t quite see it… It’s just one of several ways that GTFO messes with the player” says Simon Viklund, member of 10 Chambers Collective.
The monster can only be made out when it's moving in relation to the surrounding light sources - such as a player’s flashlight. This makes it almost impossible to show the shadow enemy in a static screenshot, which is why the press material will only contain media showing it in motion.
GTFO will be available and playable at Unitys booth at Gamescom, together with interview opportunities with the creators.
"At Unity we believe in supporting creators that inspire our community; so we were delighted to partner with 10 Chambers Collective to bring GTFO to E3 and Gamescom so they could share it with the world", says Isabelle Riva, head of Made with Unity. "We were excited to showcase this new enemy which is a testament to 10 Chambers Collectives mastery in lighting and suspense."
GTFO will be released 2018.
