'Total War: Rome II' Rise of the Republic Prequel Campaign Next Month - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on July 19, 2018 @ 7:01 p.m. PDT

Encompassing one of the best-known periods in world history, Total War: Rome II will combine the most expansive turn-based campaign and the largest, most cinematic real-time battles yet seen in any game.

Total War: Rome II will sink players into the dangerous political machinations of Rome’s senate, while asking them to struggle with family dilemmas and question the loyalty of ‘friends’ and allies. Leading the greatest army ever seen into battle will be just one challenge you will face at the head of the world’s first superpower.

Will you help forge an empire? Restore the Republic? Or grasp the reins of power for yourself, and assume the hated title of tyrant? Who will you conquer? Who will you betray? Who will you sacrifice?

How far will you go for Rome?

The year is 399 BC and Rome is poised for greatness. However, its very existence balances on a knife-edge. Depicting the events that led to the Second Founding of Rome and beyond, Rise of the Republic is a brand-new campaign pack for ROME II in which the fledgling republic must carve out her place in history... or die trying.

Rise of the Republic's super-detailed campaign map depicts the landmass of Italy and its neighbours, and introduces nine playable factions including Rome, the great city-state of Syracuse, and the ambitious Gallic tribe of the Senones. The new Government Actions feature enables players to activate unique bonuses for their chosen faction, while engaging in new region-specific dilemmas drawn from the annals of history.

Launching simultaneously with Rise of the Republic, the Ancestral Update introduces the Family Tree to all ROME II campaigns. This visual representation of your family and nobles enables you to interact with and manipulate characters, forge bonds and alliances with other factions, and engage in intrigues to further your aims. The Ancestral Update will initially launch as an opt-in beta and is available now.

Rise of the Republic is available for 10% off until August 9 here.
