'Desolate' Early Access Update Adds Faction War Feature, New Weapons, Missions, Improvements

by Rainier on Aug. 4, 2018 @ 12:17 a.m. PDT

Desolate is a first person horror survival game where you form a research team with up to 4 players and explore an open world filled with mysteries and unsolved questions, or do it all on your own.

Desolate is a first person survival game, with a nerve-wracking horror atmosphere and a unique setting of an alternate-history 1980’s Soviet Union.

Players will be able to explore an open world, filled to the brim with mysteries and unsolved questions. Do it on your own - or form a research team with up to 4 players and wander through the Island together.

Two years ago Granichny Island became an epicentre of a large-scale disaster of unknown origin. “The New Light” conglomerate covered up this catastrophic event - and now aims to rectify the consequences as much as they can.

A massive campaign is underway, during which so-called “Volunteers” are sent out onto Granichny. Their mission - to research the paranormal activities of the island, gathering information and undertaking dangerous tasks, all in hope of amending mistakes of the past.

Play the role of a Volunteer, and explore a place filled with threats of every shape and size - from monsters and madmen to supernatural anomalies and seemingly impossible weather patterns. Journey through the present of this forsaken world to uncover its secrets.

Desolate receives its biggest content update yet - with The Takeover.

In Desolate: The Takeover, the players join the fight for liberation of Granichny Island. Join the Resistance and re-capture the territories that have been overtaken by the New Light, looted by Marauders or infested with Creatures of mysterious origin, created on Granichny.

The update includes:

  • Faction War - New Gameplay Feature. Capture in-game areas taken over by rival factions - The New Light, Marauders and Monsters. Visit re-captured areas to gain access to different in-game bonuses - new merchants, items, and others!
  • Improved Character Animation - With new movement and combat animations, exploring Granichny feels more realistic than ever before!
  • Enemy Improvements -  New weapons and equipment are now available to enemy forces, so be careful - the island is more dangerous than ever.
  • Quality-of-life improvements - from small UI changes to new in-game mechanics, such as the Rest At Safezone option.

With new weapon types, armor, crafting blueprints and re-imagined enemies, the island is more dangerous than ever. Join your comrades in a blood-curdling fight for liberation, and re-take Granichny from the evil forces that have occupied it for far too long!
