In Dauntless, players take up the mantle of Slayers. These brave warriors fight for humanity’s survival against ferocious beasts known as Behemoths, whose savage hunger to drain the very essence, or aether, from the world puts every life at risk. Equipped with powerful armor and weapons, Slayers will join up with others and adventure across the Shattered Isles to battle Behemoths together. After each battle, Slayers bring their hard-earned spoils to the frontier city of Ramsgate to craft, enhance and customize their arsenal to take on the next challenging encounter.

The world of Dauntless has been shattered by a cataclysmic event, creating a vast array of uncharted and majestic floating islands. Behemoths, as cunning as they are vicious, consume the land, and it’s up to the Slayers to hunt them down before they destroy what remains of the world. Slayers will explore an ever-changing frontier, brimming with verdant flora and unique wildlife.

Slayers will also forge their legend through a robust Evergame experience that offers a multitude of challenges and activities once they complete the main campaign. From fiendish Dire Behemoths and heroic difficulties, to unique hunt modifiers encouraging Slayers to adapt their strategies, the Evergame offers a multitude of challenges and promises powerful rewards (including Exotic gear) to those who answer the call. The Dauntless experience will continue to offer players new and unique ways to engage with the world and community for years to come.

Arriving today is the Boreus, the first Behemoth in Dauntless with the ability to summon swarms of minions to its aid. The Boreus is a frost-powered Behemoth that is best thought of as not a single Behemoth, but as a whole host of creatures - this becomes quickly apparent once it calls upon three distinct minion types to assail unsuspecting Slayers. Those who hunt the Boreus will need to employ new tactics and strategies to secure a kill.

Boreus also heralds the launch of Hunt Pass Season 3: Overgrowth, as Dauntless continues to expand in the lead up to launch. Arriving alongside the Behemoth, this new seasonal event runs from March 13 to April 16 and gives Slayers the opportunity to earn a full set of Farslayer gear, including the first-ever transmog for the Ostian repeaters. Emotes, epic flares and other rewards dot both the Elite and Basic Hunt Pass tracks as well.

Phoenix Labs is also hard at work on cross-play support for its console releases. Expanded friends lists, matchmaking and more are all underway in service of bringing the “One Dauntless” vision to life on PS4, Xbox One, and Epic Games store platforms. Dauntless will now be launching on all three platforms in summer of 2019. This new launch window amends the previous April launch target, giving Phoenix Labs additional time to polish gameplay, stress-test for scale, and complete additional features in time for launch on console and the Epic Games store.

Additional changes coming in today’s patch include a completely revamped UI for Slayer loadouts that enables easy swapping of armor, consumables and cells on a single screen, as well as updated attacks and combos for the Hammer weapon class that enable new, vicious attack options. This is part of an ongoing effort to rework and refine existing systems in Dauntless for launch, ensuring the experience is fresh for new and existing players alike.

In Dauntless, Slayers can go at it alone or join cooperative parties with up to four people to take on the Behemoth threat. No two encounters are alike - each brings its own unique challenges and rewards. To survive on the Shattered Isles, players collect rewards from their hunts to upgrade their arsenal of weapons and armor in a deep and robust crafting system.
