'Redout' (ALL) - New Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on April 29, 2019 @ 1:00 p.m. PDT

You’re in for an uncompromising, fast, tough and satisfying driving experience, soaked in that vertigo that stands at the core of the arcade racing genre.

Redout is a tribute to the old racing monsters such as F-Zero, WipeOut, Rollcage, and POD. No bollocks: get in the ship and slam that throttle.

Redout is set in the year 2560, after the construction of elaborate magnetic race tracks has transformed the barren wasteland of Earth into the epicenter of the galaxy’s most popular sport. Competitors can steer, drift and pitch 28 different customizable vehicles as each successfully-maneuvered turn, slope and twist applies a unique force that can be channeled into even greater forward velocity.

Think you know the meaning of fast? We challenge you. From the first moment, you will feel the enormous amount of power coming from your engine. Hovering a few meters above the ground going over 800 km/h is no piece of cake. There’s no racing on rails here: each input will apply a physical force to your ship. This means you will feel every turn and every twist in the track.

A sharp low-polygon style blends meshes and terrains with the latest state-of-the-art shading and lighting effects provided by the Unreal Engine 4, creating beautiful and instantly recognisable aesthetics. From dirty suburban environments, to eerie frozen landscapes, to vast desert plains, players are immersed in the melancholic, dystopian atmosphere of a semi abandoned Earth.

Redout’s Switch release will feature 60 tracks over 12 environments, 28 different vehicles, 11 different event types and more than 100 different events in single-player Career mode, hundreds of liveries to customize the vehicles, and more.

With 11 event types and over 200 different total events, Redout’s single-player Career Mode gives racers the opportunity to gain experience, level up and upgrade their vehicles with power-ups like additional turbo, self-repair drones, advanced grip systems and more. A variety of multiplayer race modes lets up to six players compete for online supremacy as the fastest times and top players are recorded on the global leaderboards.

All of the high-speed action in Redout is accentuated with flying sparks, electrical arcs and blazing exhaust, providing players with high levels of sensory-overloaded racing intensity. The highly optimized environments offer 60 evocative courses set in 12 futuristic locations, which include breezy coastlines, eerie frozen landscapes, vast desert plains and more.

Currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, Redout is finally coming to Nintendo Switch on May 14, 2019 for $39.99
