'CryoFall' Adds Dedicated PvE Servers, PvP Update

by Rainier on May 16, 2019 @ 9:10 a.m. PDT

CryoFall is a 2D open-world multiplayer survival game where you construct a new home, join forces with other survivors, and discover secrets on a mysterious ancient planet.

Welcome to the world of CryoFall, where a catastrophic crash landing has stranded you — and dozens of others — millions of light-years from home, trapped on a hostile planet and in constant danger. Your only hope for survival is to make use of the resources around you as you develop your skills and technology to conquer this new land, tame its harsh wilderness and build a new life for you and those who have found themselves marooned on CryoFall.

During your escape from your doomed homeworld, your convoy is thrown off course by a mysterious anomaly coming from an unknown nearby planet, drawing the ships into its atmosphere and forcing them to crash-land. You are one of those lucky enough to survive; but luck is a relative term. Left with absolutely nothing, alone, abandoned, afraid, and with no hope of escape in sight, your only choice is to find a way to survive the wilds of this new world. You must gather and make use of the resources at hand, build shelter, find food, water, and hopefully, other survivors, and come to terms with the fact that this is your new home.

But there is more to this planet than meets the eye — you were not the first to inhabit this it. There are many untold secrets left behind by ancient civilizations and those that followed to uncover — but only if you can survive long enough.

Featuring stunning 2D graphics that impart a unique handcrafted feel, CryoFall challenges you to explore new worlds while uncovering long-forgotten secrets and technologies, as you piece together the story of the planet’s long-lost citizens. In this tense, sci-fi survival RPG, you and other crash survivors must find ways to thrive on a harsh and unforgiving planet in order to build a functioning colony, starting small and working through a deep technology tree that will satisfy even the most hardcore of survival fans.

AtomicTorch Studio has poured countless hours of painstaking development to come up with the right in-house technology that drives the world of CryoFall — the RENKEI Engine. Empowered with it, hundreds of players can venture forth alone — or band together on the same server — to build bases, grow colonies, conquer neighboring territories and create powerful civilizations.

Publisher Daedalic Entertainment and developer AtomicTorch Studio have released a new free content update for the sci-fi multiplayer survival RPG CryoFallintroducing dedicated PvE servers, one of the community’s most requested features. Players interested in peaceful exploration, survival and community-building on CryoFall’s alien world can now enjoy the game in cooperation with each other more fully without the pressure of bloodshed.

In addition, several improvements have been made based on community feedback to balance PvP servers, where going rogue is always an option and survival of the fittest is ultimately all that matters. To decrease the likelihood players log back on to find their bases and possessions devastated, a new 7-10 PM local time raiding window (community server owners are free to configure these raiding hours as they wish or even disable the feature altogether) has been introduced to ensure that most raids happen when players are likely to be online to fight back directly. But this doesn’t mean PvP players can rest easy. Bombs now do more damage, and the chests that protect your belongings can now be more easily opened by invaders.

CryoFall is available now on Steam Early Access, priced at $19.99/£15.99/€19.99, with regular updates planned for the future.
