'Sparklite' (ALL) Introduces Its Bestiary of Brutal Baddies - Screens

by Rainier on July 16, 2019 @ 4:09 p.m. PDT

Sparklite is a roguelite brawler-adventure set in a whimsical world where players invent guns and gadgets to solve puzzles and defeat enemies.

Battle foes in top-down action using an arsenal of gadgets, guns, and gear. Explore dangerous corners of the world, take down titans of the mining industry, and save the Sparklite!

Players assume the role of Ada, a genius engineer, lost in a strange new land thrown into turmoil by gremlins. Ada must help save the world by stopping the invaders from extracting the last of its life-blood, the magical Sparklite.

But nature is fighting back too! Violent earthquakes, known as  disruptions, periodically shake up the terrain, causing new arrangements and layouts within the world. After each disruption come new quests, minigames, and challenges for Ada to overcome as she builds up her strength to defeat the mysterious “Baron”.

Everything in the world of Geodia is tied together by Sparklite... it's the life force of the planet, and the inhabitants have learned how to channel it for their own gain. The blue, glowing ore can be harnessed providing a low-level, rechargeable power source, or it can be consumed for a huge surge of power with grave consequences. Geodia’s self-titled "Baron" has devised a plot to mine the world’s Sparklite core to meet his own ends. Mining Sparklite in large quantities, the Baron repurposes the ore to fuel his powerful war machines, but the pollution from the consumed Sparklite is corrupting the world. Animals have turned into violent monsters, and the environment is rotting away.

The stricken land of Geodia has a natural defense in its Sparklite core. Periodically, the core causes a Disruption which rearranges the world, setting back the Baron’s efforts. Our heroine, Ada, must stop the Baron before he can obtain the core and gain the power to create a new world in which he has ultimate power. A plucky mechanic, Ada will need to use her cunning and skills to defeat the Baron’s henchmen across five distinct zones. Ada will have to work with Geodia’s weird and wonderful inhabitants if she’s to face the Baron and put paid to his deadly plans before it’s too late.

We all need a little help now and then. Luckily, adventurers ready to tackle the perils of Sparklite can get a leg up on their foes thanks to Professor Corwin’s Bestiary of Brutal Baddies of Geodia!

Geodia is home to many docile and beautiful animals, however, not all is well in this usually-peaceful land! The power-hungry Baron’s nefarious mining activities have altered and polluted Geodia’s once-majestic Biomes. The animals residing in these areas have been affected too; transforming into mutated and aggressive creatures. Continued mining is causing Geodia’s landscape to shift, changing its layout with each Fracture and further affecting the creatures. Our hero, Ada, has undertaken a great and difficult cause; put a stop to the Baron, his Titans, and their pollutive mining, and reverse the effects they’ve had on Geodia and its inhabitants.

To aid you, Professor Corwin, Geodia’s foremost expert on Geodian wildlife, was kind enough to catalogue some of the mutated creatures you’ll encounter as you journey through the Biomes in Geodia. Needless to say, this should help you and Ada on your quest!

Name:DescriptionArea:
Dirt HogHalf mole, half groundog, all mean. The extreme climate of the desert forces these hogs to discharge almost all of their spines at once. This effort to keep themselves cool doesn't last long and they must repeat the behavior regularly. Shifting Sands
SwampCrawlerCarnivorous worms that dwell in swamps. They spit mouthfuls of acidic goo before retreating into the murky water. Once able to swim freely in the waters of the swamp, their corrupted size now forces these worms to remain stationary.Acid Bog
BreakerThe Baron uses them to blast apart rocks in the mines. These demolition experts have been a key part of the Barons despicable agenda. Sparklite Mines
SmasherThis ugly guy smashes rocks inside in the mines to uncover gems. He uses his bulk to swing a gargantuan hammer in huge arcs. Sparklite Mines
CatersplitterThese larvae have very distinct segments. Very well protected at their extremities but with a vulnerable middle. Though blind, the Cattersplitter is able to navigate using sensitive nerves at the end of it's many thoracic spikes. Goldenwoods
EnforcerA henchmen of the Baron, the Enforcer guards the other miners. Their swords are forged by Brutes in the fires of furnaces scattered throughout Geodia.Sparklite Mines
MoleHogHalf mole, half groundog. These burrowing mammals protect themselves in underground holes, only surfacing to discharge their spines at unsuspecting prey.Vinelands
Shield GeneratorA devious machine, able to generate a protective shield for any near-by allies. The science that fuels this contraption prevents it from creating a shield around itself. Sparklite Mines
Sand RevenantThese beasts are conjured from their environment and use their immense strength to send shockwaves through the earth. Composed almost entirely of sand, their bodies are suspended by the cohesive muck created when Sparklite is burned.Shifting Sands
Acid GloopA slime with such high concentrations of corruption that it produces a natural acid. As it slowly traverses, it leaves behind a corrosive trail that causes harm to unsuspecting victims that step in it. Acid Bog
SpituniaThis plant discharges a seed at high-speeds to repel its enemies. Each plant has the ability to generate new seeds at an incredible rate.Vinelands
StingstickerThese insects are among the fastest creatures on the planet. And among the most venomous...
The Stingstickers's stinger has a corkscrew shape that prevents it from being easily removed, ensuring a lethal dose of poison.
Goldenwoods
Romp StomperThese boars are naturally aggressive, but now that they've been exposed to corruption they are unlike anything I've seen. Unable to maneuver well, they coil their bodies and and charge their prey in a straight line. Vinelands
