'Signs of the Sojourner' Launches IndieGoGo Campaign, Free Demo - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 18, 2019 @ 2:04 p.m. PDT

Signs Of The Sojourner is a narrative based deck-building game uniquely combining themes of communication, relationships and personal choice with sleek card game mechanics.

Combining sleek card game mechanics, endearing dialogue from narrative designer Kevin Snow (Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, Pathologic 2) and an introspective journey of homesickness, growth, and tasty food - Signs of the Sojourner takes a look at how we communicate with the people around us, and how much we change for them.

Wipe the dust from your mother's old store and follow her steps by travelling the roads, meeting new people and collecting snacks to sell when you return home. The welcoming 'sequence building' mechanic helps you play out conversations, as you craft your own story during your journeys, rather than focus on winning each encounter.

Players will travel around a diverse, detailed world to collect cards, and then use them to communicate with those around them, all set with a backdrop of a beautiful, color-filled landscape. The ways in which you develop your deck, and thus your character, will determine how well you can communicate and connect with characters from different backgrounds and regions.

As your relationships grow, you'll become involved in the lives and struggles of characters at home and abroad, all communicated via a unique card game experience. As you explore the world your experiences will change you. How will you grow? What will you leave behind? Who will you become?

Echodog Games launched a free public demo (on Discord or itch.io)of their narrative based card game Signs of the Sojourner.

Creative Director, Dyala Kattan-Wright announced that alongside a free public demo, Signs of the Sojourner will also be entering a flexible funding campaign on IndieGoGo.

"It's been so incredibly helpful seeing the chat and ideas for the game, and we want to incorporate as much as we can in the final release.", Kattan-Wright posted to the Echodog Discord server.

"We will be using IndieGoGo rather than Kickstarter since it allows us to set a flexible funding goal. Since the game will be released no matter what, this allows us to scale our additional plans depending on what is raised rather than the typical all-or-nothing campaigns."
