'A Year of Rain' Kicks Off Closed Beta, Registrations Expanded, New Faction Revealed - Screens

by Rainier on Sept. 19, 2019 @ 8:36 a.m. PDT

A Year of Rain is a multiplayer real time strategy game, featuring heroes, an extensive story mode and heavily emphasizes team gameplay.

This new fantasy real time strategy game has been built from the ground-up to accommodate advanced teamplay with players able to team up with their friends or AI helpers in game modes that are optimized for 2 vs 2 combat including campaign mode, "Against All Odds" survival mode and competitive multiplayer modes.

A Year Of Rain combines classic real-time strategy elements with a strong focus on hero units. Both the co-op campaigns and online and offline modes are being designed with a team of two in mind, whether you play with a human or AI player. The classic 2v2 skirmish mode is being developed for competitive matches from the very start. Meanwhile, “Against all Odds“ is an innovation in the genre where two lone heroes face two entire armies, who have full command of units and structures.

In this team RTS, you can choose one of three rival factions and get immersed in a gameplay mixture of base building, resource gathering, and unit training. Structures and units can be upgraded in order to enhance efficiency and power. With your carefully assembled army led by a legendary hero, you will be able to fight alongside the noble House Rupah, the Wild Outcasts or join the Restless Undead. A battle without mercy begins.

The PC closed beta of publisher/developer Daedalic Entertainment’s A Year Of Rain kicks off today. Due to huge interest from fans, Daedalic has increased the number of slots allocated for closed beta, allowing more testers to gain access over the next three weeks.

Players who want to get firsthand experience before the game officially launches later this year can apply for beta access here.

Daedalic has also revealed new information about the four Heroes of House Rupah, one of A Year Of Rain’s three playable factions. Faction leader “Lord Jaidee Rupah” (only playable in campaign mode) is skillful with his sword and a master of conviction and influence. “Paladin Killian Morningview” is a veteran of many battles, reflected by the scars on both her body and soul. “Ranger Morrig Fogvale” is a northern dwarf and skilled hunter who doesn’t fear death. And “Spark Mage Shen the Scarred” is dedicated to the element of fire, leaving her foes unrecognizable after battle.

You can see House Rupah and the second, already introduced faction, The Restless Regiment, in action in the Undead Champs Tournament’s Grand Finale, which will be streamed on September 28 via Twitch. Previous rounds in the competitive series can be watched by VOD.
