'Dauntless' (ALL) Content Update Introduces Saved Loadouts, New Crafting and More

by Rainier on Sept. 6, 2019 @ 6:14 a.m. PDT

Dauntless is an online co-op action RPG set in a savage science-fantasy world where up to 4 players work together to hunt down ferocious beasts called Behemoths.

In Dauntless, players take up the mantle of Slayers. These brave warriors fight for humanity’s survival against ferocious beasts known as Behemoths, whose savage hunger to drain the very essence, or aether, from the world puts every life at risk. Equipped with powerful armor and weapons, Slayers will join up with others and adventure across the Shattered Isles to battle Behemoths together. After each battle, Slayers bring their hard-earned spoils to the frontier city of Ramsgate to craft, enhance and customize their arsenal to take on the next challenging encounter.

The world of Dauntless has been shattered by a cataclysmic event, creating a vast array of uncharted and majestic floating islands. Behemoths, as cunning as they are vicious, consume the land, and it’s up to the Slayers to hunt them down before they destroy what remains of the world. Slayers will explore an ever-changing frontier, brimming with verdant flora and unique wildlife.

Slayers will also forge their legend through a robust Evergame experience that offers a multitude of challenges and activities once they complete the main campaign. From fiendish Dire Behemoths and heroic difficulties, to unique hunt modifiers encouraging Slayers to adapt their strategies, the Evergame offers a multitude of challenges and promises powerful rewards (including Exotic gear) to those who answer the call. The Dauntless experience will continue to offer players new and unique ways to engage with the world and community for years to come.

Phoenix Labs released patch 0.9.3 for Dauntless, bringing with it saved equipment loadouts, a new crafting interface, exotic Repeaters, UI and HUDs improvements, and other fan-requested features. This patch arrives following the recently teased content coming in Dauntless’ next expansion hitting later this month, which will introduce a new Behemoth, weapon, the Bounty system and more.

Saved loadouts have been one of the most-requested Dauntless features since launch, and the team is proud to offer them to Slayers everywhere starting today. Each Slayer will have access to one saved loadout from the start, where they can set their weapon (as well as mods and specials), armor, cells, dyes, transmogs and consumables into a saved loadout slot. Slayers can unlock an additional five saved loadouts through progression and the Mastery System. On top of that, Slayers can purchase an additional nine loadout slots in packs of three. More information on saved loadouts can be found on the Dauntless blog.

Patch 0.9.3 also introduces a number of visual improvements to the UI and HUD, making the on-screen information during intense Behemoth hunts easier to understand and use to Slayers’ advantage. Weapon and armour crafting has been overhauled to streamline the process, and include more visual information. Selecting a weapon or armour piece in a crafting menu will show Slayers (1) that item’s strengths and weaknesses vs. all aether types, (2) detailed cell slot information, (3) how to acquire any missing crafting materials, and (4) how that item compares to what you currently have equipped. Speaking of weapons, Slayers can also now unlock the Twin Suns exotic repeaters in the Dauntless store! The Twin Suns come equipped with explosive mag bombs that stick to their target and can be detonated on command.

In Dauntless, Slayers can go at it alone or join cooperative parties with up to four people to take on the Behemoth threat. No two encounters are alike - each brings its own unique challenges and rewards. To survive on the Shattered Isles, players collect rewards from their hunts to upgrade their arsenal of weapons and armor in a deep and robust crafting system.

Dauntless features an innovative and robust ever-game experience which includes live service expansions and endgame activities that bring the world to life through regular content updates, events and more.

The team at Phoenix Labs (created by a team of industry veterans from BioWare, Riot Games, and other acclaimed studios) is committed to building Dauntless as an evolving experience. Expect new expansions, adventures, deadly Behemoths and more - all on a regular basis and all free-to-play.
