Set in a persistent open world, it is driven by a captivating sci-fi story that picks up shortly after the events of its predecessor.
EverSpace 2 will clearly outperform its predecessor in terms of both audiovisual quality and scope, which is reflected in the significantly higher development budget.
ROCKFISH Games initially planned to launch a Kickstarter campaign on September 9, 2019, but decided to postpone it until October 2nd until November 4, 2019.
"At gamescom and Pax West, over 1500 space game fans played the EverSpace 2 demo and were all enthusiastic about it. That's why we decided to exhibit at the Tokyo Game Show at the German Pavilion at short notice, too" says Michael Schade, CEO of ROCKFISH Games. "We will then incorporate the feedback into the finalization of the reward tiers and stretch goals of the Kickstarter campaign. In addition, we want to polish the demo a bit more and add graphic options to support a wide range of gaming PCs, so that our backers can get into exciting space battles later this year".
The demo version of EverSpace 2 for eligible backers will be available via Steam shortly after the campaign has ended.
As with the successful campaign of its predecessor in 2015, the EverSpace community will thus be involved in the development process as early as possible. On the other hand, the financial independence of the studio will be further secured in order to ensure full creative control at all times during production and, if successful, to even increase the scope of the game by activating stretch goals.
Early Access of EverSpace 2 on Steam is currently planned for the end of 2020, with the full version for PC, PS4 and Xbox One scheduled for release in the second half of 2021.
