OOTP is the first company outside of South Korea to be acquired by Com2uS, expanding the mobile publisher’s ever-growing roster of various sports-based games.
“We are very happy and grateful that we can partner with Com2uS, a global company recognized for its competitiveness in the US, Asian and European markets,” said Markus Heinsohn, founder and CEO, OOTP. “We believe that Com2uS' expertise in mobile games and the global gaming market will further grow our OOTP games.”
Founded in 1999, German game company OOTP is the developer of the baseball strategy game OOTP Baseball, officially licensed by MLB (Major League Baseball), as well as the distributor of the hockey strategy game Franchise Hockey Manager, officially licensed by the NHL (National Hockey League).
Available on Steam and through online downloads, new versions of OOTP Baseball are released annually following MLB’s opening seasons. OOTP Baseball boasts the highest player base in the US for a baseball management simulator and has won “PC Game of the Year” twice from content analysis website Metacritic.
“At Com2uS, we continue to elevate our brand reputation as we make progressive strides worldwide. OOTP is a company with notable history and craftsmanship,” said Kyu Lee, president, Gamevil Com2uS. “We expect OOTP to become a key part of our officially-licensed sports management product lineup and we plan to actively pursue further international mergers and acquisitions.”
Com2uS has extensive experience with developing and publishing MLB, National Basketball Association (NBA) and KBO-based mobile games and is further expanding the company’s portfolio of officially licensed sports games through the purchase of OOTP. Together, Com2uS and OOTP plan to develop new mobile versions of OOTP’s highly popular games for the global market.
