Sharkmob Opens Up New Development Studio In London

by Rainier on Oct. 14, 2020 @ 5:50 p.m. PDT

Sharkmob announced the formation of its first studio outside Sweden; Sharkmob London Ltd.

Located in Central London, the studio will be led by Managing Director James Dobrowski and a senior management team consisting of Design Director Martin Connor, Live Game Director Sam Barton and Art Director Benjamin Penrose. James will report directly to Sharkmob CEO Fredrik Rundqvist.

“London is one of the greatest cities in the world and the United Kingdom has an amazing development community. We see London as a global city - with good national and international connections - and though 2020 has posed exceptional challenges to us all, as we look beyond these, - the UK will always be a key location for game development," said Sharkmob CEO Fredrik Rundqvist.

“Our plan over the next few years is to add another industry leading studio in the heart of London, which is also close to some of the UK’s development hubs such as Guildford, Leamington Spa and Cambridge. Our new team will have unprecedented levels of creative freedom plus the full support of like-minded veteran developers back in Malmö. The London studio will fully embrace Sharkmob’s approach to studio culture and be encouraged to push boundaries in craft, expertise and creativity," added Sharkmob London Managing Director James Dobrowski.

“A studio is nothing without the right people at its core and we want to do everything we can to find and nurture talent without letting location hold us back. I am very happy to welcome James and his talented team to the Sharkmob crew,” continued Sharkmob CEO Fredrik Rundqvist.

Founded in 2017, Sharkmob has rapidly grown from a five person start-up to a large team of world class developers operating out of one of Malmö’s most iconic locations.  Sharkmob is currently working on two AAA quality, unannounced projects for PC and consoles. One is based on a cult classic IP and the other is a brand new, proprietary universe created in-house.

The London studio core team has many years of experience in games development, having worked for companies such as Mediatonic, Rockstar North, CCP, Wargaming and Playground Games. The London team will be partnering on the two existing projects as well as taking lead on the development of a third project of their own.
