'Tin Can' Comes to Steam Early Access Later This Month - Screens & Trailer

Tin Can is a chilling survival simulation of being trapped in an old Medusa Class escape pod with nothing more than your skills and limited knowledge of technology.

Tin Can is a frightening realistic survival experience where your ship's systems are simulated down to the component level! You are lost in space in a fragile pod where only its thin hull separates you from space void. Your challenge is to discover ways to mend and repair your pod's broken systems while staying alive and healthy until rescue can be called if they answer at all… How do you fix an oxygen generator that malfunctions? How do you deal with the atmospheric pressure and out of control temperature? And what do the blinking lights, alerts, sounds, and buzzers that keep going off mean? Passivity leads to death! Alone, trapped in space, with nothing more than your heavy breathing, rising panic, and oncoming terror, how do you prevail and overcome asteroid fields and nebulas!?!

Tin Can offers an incredibly detailed gameplay experience with extensive micromanagement; more than a dozen interconnected systems are part of your pod. Each has its specific function and poses different problems to tackle. You need to figure out what is wrong and retrace failures back to their source. You are the onboard technician and doctor! You are solely responsible for every component and system on the pod. Dismantle, swap, and fix broken items and study the detailed onboard manuals for guidance. 

Tin Can include cosmic events that strike your pod and impacts your chance of staying alive. You need to anticipate and deal with critical situations as they appear to avoid certain death. You will experience medical symptoms as you play; your vision will blur; your breathing will get out of control, and wrong actions may cause unexpected unconsciousness. Maintain your health and stay wary of your life-saving health bars. Can you survive until rescued?

With patience, luck, and a detailed component manual, you might just survive in time to experience another Hallows Eve.


Tin Can will be coming to Steam Early Access on October 30, 2020 and will remain so for approx. 6 months

“We wish for the players to be able to enjoy the Tin Can experience as early as possible. This will also allow us to get feedback and help us change the game into what players want it to be.”

“The early access version will first offer a few scenarios, one hardcore gamemode where the player needs to survive for as long as possible against different space events and a sandbox mode to discover the pod without too much pressure. The pod will contain 12 systems (Main Computer, Main Generator, CO2 Scrubbers, O2 Generator, Pressure Stabilizer, Repair Station, Artificial Gravity Generator, Fast Battery Charger, CO2 to O2 Recycling Station, Temperature Manager, Main Lights and Emergency Lights).

Depending on the status of the development it may also include the heating and cooling systems and general temperature management. There will be four types of events in the early access, from asteroid fields to the terrible electric nebula!”

Key Features:

  • A micro management of systems down to every single component.
  • A dozen of systems all having their own specific function to insure your survival, and all interconnected, from the oxygen generator to the emergency lights.
  • Around twenty different components, all having their own specific function and causing different problems in case of damage. For example : A defective button wont trigger properly when pressed while a faulty electric connector wont deliver enough power to the associated system.
  • Organic failures thanks to the simulated nature of resources and components inside the game. You will have to figure out what is wrong and retrace failures back to the source.
  • Dismantle, swap and fix anything inside the pod.
  • A realistic management of vital resources, such as oxygen, carbon dioxide or even temperature and radiations. Here, no incoherent percentage. Required levels of these resources, for survival, are based on real life.
  • Use the onboard manuals to get detailed information about your escape pod and eventual medical symptoms you might be suffering from.
  • Real medical symptoms replace health bars. For example, hypoxia (lack of oxygen) will make you breathe faster and stronger, will make your vision blurry and will slow down your movements until you fall unconscious.
  • Cosmic events will strike your pod and will have different types of impact on its systems. From flying near the surface of a star that will cause overheat to asteroid fields that will pierce your hull, you need to anticipate and deal with the situations as they come to avoid certain death.

Tin Can is in development for PC, scheduled for 2021.
