'Project EVE' Shows Off Character, Three-dimensional Scanning Tech - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Dec. 16, 2020 @ 6:00 a.m. PST

Stellar Blade is an action game where you play as Eve fighting off unknown invaders called NA-tives, and reclaim the lost Earth after its collapse.

Intense battle scenes were realized with overwhelming live-action-grade graphics, showing advanced technology of SHIFTUP since the title’s first trailer video.

SHIFTUP now operates an independent studio for console games, utilizing technology such as high-density 3D scan system and performance capture system. Development is in progress to show maximum performance on various platforms including consoles.

Korean developer SHIFTUP was founded in 2013 by Hyung-Tae Kim, an art director and illustrator famous for his successful past works like Blade & Soul and The War of Genesis 3. As of 2020, Shift Up is preparing for new projects to follow, Project NIKKE and Project EVE, going beyond mobile games to the domain of console and PC games as a global multi-platform developer.

The teaser video depicts main protagonist Eve in combat with unknown invaders, NA-tives, to recapture the lost Earth after its collapse. Today’s reveal furthers the trailer’s breathtaking gameplay, delivering detailed character renderings, high-resolution screenshots and background concept artwork.

SHIFTUP today also sheds light on the independent studio’s character creation process by releasing unseen 3D sculpture images of the monster NA-tive seen in the gameplay trailer. SHIFTUP utilizes technologies such as a high-density 3D scan and performance capture systems, among other techniques. Creature designers first sculpt characters out of clay by hand before converting them into the game.

“Our process of 3D scanning ensures that characters in Project Eve explode with distinct realism,” says Hyung-TAE Kim, SHIFTUP CEO. “We can not wait to share more details about what makes this game especially unique.”

Project EVE is in development for PC and consoles, scheduled for 2021.
