World Of Horror is a cosmic horror retro RPG where you witness the demise of sanity as the Old Gods reawaken and grotesque abominations stalk a seaside Japanese village via collectible event cards that guide the story.

World Of Horror follows the rural residents of a small seaside Japanese town facing inhuman terrors in a world spiraling toward madness. Investigate the return of eldritch monsters and solve puzzles to collect arcane spell components. Struggle against malevolent legends of folklore like the Aka Manto and Kuchisake-onna, summoned by performing dark rites.

It’s the end of the world and the only solution is to confront the terror reigning over the apocalypse.

Navigate this hellish, roguelite reality through turn-based combat and unforgiving choices. Experiment with the events of a playthrough by building a deck of event cards to discover different outcomes for your battles against the darkness. Different decks may even unlock new mysteries or clues.

World Of Horror features branching stories with five playable characters to brave the chaos, each with their own story and a different perspective on the events that unfold. Unravel puzzles and mysteries through spells that sacrifice sanity. Uncover disturbing and shocking clues. Diligently search every nook and cranny, scouring for helpful items that may come in handy in another twisted encounter.

World Of Horror invites all who would dare confront its Lovecraftian terrors to Steam Early Access and the Xbox Game Preview program for $14.99, as well as with Xbox Game Pass for PC (beta).

Choose from among 10 mysteries with procedurally generated events in Early Access, investigating unleashed horrors as chance encounters wreak havoc on your stamina and sanity. Explore dark corners for clues and hidden helpful items to reach the best of many ghastly endings. Unlock new events from encounters and achievements along the way, starting the next run with a deeper pool of terrifying possibilities for World Of Horror to draw from.

World Of Horror is as much a battle with the self as with ancient evil and eldritch frights,” said Pawel Kozminski, founder of panstasz. “Every player brave enough to face these distressing cases will unknowingly lean on their own fears—perhaps even subconscious or long-buried—to make sense of baffling, mind-bending terrors.”

World Of Horror will support English at the start of Early Access with more languages to follow. Several additional mysteries, more characters, and dozens of new events will be added for 1.0 launch.

Experience the quiet horror of this love letter to the works of Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft. World Of Horror is free of typical jump scares, relying solely on its unnerving environments and amorphous terrors to create a gnawing sense of dread. Complimented by haunting chiptunes and a 1-bit art style with a variety of available palettes, World Of Horror presents a series of frightening and unsettling accounts that linger well after stepping away.

Cassandra Khaw, writer on games including Wasteland 3, Sunless Skies and She Remembered Caterpillars, as well as author of the critically acclaimed horror novel Hammers on Bone, will collaborate with Panstasz on the writing for World Of Horror.

Key Features:

  • Choose from five unique characters and solve over 10 mysteries in Early Access.
  • Most mysteries harbor multiple endings - for those that survive long enough.
  • Acclaimed wordsmith Cassandra Khaw (Hammers On Bone) lends her talents to the words articulating the game’s terrors.
  • A haunting chiptune soundtrack accentuates the game’s stark 1-bit art style, drawn 100% in MS Paint.

World Of Horror will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC (Steam), Mac and Linux in late 2020.
