'Overpass' (ALL) Shows Off Obstacle Courses And Hillclimbs, Delayed On Consoles Until Next Month - Trailer

by Rainier on Feb. 21, 2020 @ 1:27 p.m. PST

Overpass is an an off-road simulation where the player takes control of powerful buggies and quads, scrabbling across extreme tracks and very hazardous terrain.

This simulation, unique in its genre, pits the player against craggy slopes and puts their cool-headedness to the test throughout technical obstacle courses along wilderness tracks.

At the controls of 25 buggies and quads from big-name manufacturers (Arctic Cat, Yamaha, Polaris and Suzuki), players will need to negotiate scree slopes, steep inclines and various obstacles on extreme off-road and technically challenging tracks.

With 40 routes in varied terrain and environments, a new challenge can be found in each race. Whether it involves hillclimbing or rock-crawling, the aim is to complete the race in the best time possible.

Overpass realistic and technical level design, combined with the advanced physics engine, makes for an even greater challenge: mud, sand, rocks, natural and man-made obstacles... every type of terrain offers a unique test. Players must choose the vehicle best suited to the selected track, adapt their driving style and understand that speed is not always the answer. You’ll need to master the technical characteristics of official reproductions of buggies and quads from iconic brands such as Yamaha, Suzuki and Arctic Cat. From expert control of acceleration, wise use of the transmission and differentials, and knowing when to shift from two- to four-wheel drive, there are many options to master on the road to off-road victory.

This new Overpass video focuses on the two types of track available: Obstacle Courses and Hillclimbs.

With Obstacle Courses, the challenge is in knowing how to cross each natural or artificial obstacle in the best way possible. This requires careful use of the throttle, deciding where to position the wheels for the best grip, and using the differential lock wisely to avoid getting stuck. Many options are available to the player and the best one will depend on several factors: the vehicle, the terrain, damage to the vehicle and the player's driving style.

For Hillclimbs, the goal is to find a path up to the hill's summit. It's usually a shorter distance but a harder challenge. Knowing how to analyze the terrain is essential for climbing the steep slopes successfully.

While the release of Overpass on PC (Epic Games Store) is scheduled for February 27, 2020, the Xbox one, PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions will be available on March 17, 2020.

Challenge yourself in the most extreme off-road conditions in the driving seat of the best all-terrain vehicles on the market. The game includes 24 licensed buggies and quads: 9 ATVs (quads) and 15 UTVs (buggies) from major manufacturers such as Polaris, Yamaha, Arctic Cat and Suzuki for negotiating scree slopes, steep inclines and various obstacles on demanding off-road tracks.

With different challenges to overcome on varied terrain, you must choose your strategy and a vehicle based on its strengths in the race ahead. Adapt your driving style and acceleration, try out all the vehicle options, and plot the best route to try and win the race – local or online.

23 of the 24 vehicles in the game are officially licensed.

There are multiple game modes in Overpass : Career, Quick Race, Local Multiplayer (split screen and hotseat) and Online Multiplayer with up to eight players. The Career mode lets you manage your buggies and quads and choose the one best adapted to each track and terrain type in order to win the competition and attract sponsors. In multiplayer mode, you’ll need to know and master the slightest detail of each track in order to post the best times and show that you are truly the master of off-roading!

Overpass will be available for PC (Epic Games Store) on February 27, 2020, followed by Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch on March 17, 2020.
