Knights Of Light is an open world 3rd person action adventure game during the medieval era.

This action adventure role playing game is set in the medieval era and based on actual historical events that was never introduced before. The story events covers the great historical battle of Al-Qadisiyyah that occurred at Iraq in the 7th century. The battle had a decisive outcome that lead to the collapse of the Sassanian empire, and while it lasted for approximately a week, the current game content covers the events prior to the battle.

There will be two playable characters to play with (Qaikaa / Aassem). Each one has a distinctive combat style and different skills and abilities to unlock. Qaikaa is a heavy hitter who uses brute force and deals massive damage, while Aassem is quick and stealthy with his swift attacks.

The game design lead was one of the contributors in the first game of the assassin's creed franchise. He is greatly inspired by the witcher franchise and analyzed its story choices and outcomes with attention to every small details.

Despite being a medieval based game but the game will feature a hidden fantasy path in the campaign that the player can tap into. According to the studio the game will contain about 60 playing hours along with two estimated expansions.

Rumbling Games Studio has release the Prologue for Knights Of Light on Steam Early Access for $24.99, with a 15% launch week discount.

“We plan to finish the full game content in two years. So the game will enter the beta stage after two years from now. After that we will polish it up to have the final release within several months later.”

“The core mechanics are implemented and requires more polish. The system can be easily expanded with more features without issues. Characters abilities and skills are limited right now. Some of the story missions are available for play. Map is divided into several regions for the player to control. A few fortifications and siege weapons can be built with resources. Random battle events will be available for the player to encounter. The game is playable and fairly optimized for smooth experience. No major or critical bugs are present to break the game flow. However any discovered issues will be addressed immediately.”

“During early access we will polish and add depth to the battle events. This includes expanding on the fortifications and resources systems. This will provide replay value beside the campaign missions.

After that the following will be added:

  • The rest of the campaign missions
  • All complete cinematic cut-scenes for the story
  • Larger battlefields with a lot more units engaged
  • Building several siege weapons and fortifications
  • Full skills and abilities tree for the two characters
  • More unique units and bosses with special abilities
  • Tribes and villages system with shifting alliances
  • Different side quests with additional NPCs
  • Survival mechanics in the vast desert dunes
  • Ancient Sassanian landmarks and ruins to explore
  • Several side activities like hunting and exploring

Knights Of Light's game world is supposed to represent the land of Iraq in the seventh century with a huge size of 400 kilometers. Despite the common thought of Iraq as a desert but it is a very diverse land full of various terrains. Aside from the beautiful landscape the world will be rich with various historical landmarks and architecture. During that time Iraq was ruled by the Sassanian Empire which was the last Persian Empire existed. The Sassanian art and architecture is very unique inheriting from both the Assyrian and Sumerian cultures.

To be as authentic as possible the studio hired a professional writer who issued two successful medieval novels before. The writer noted his interest in adding depth to the main story with the side quests and player choices affecting the world around him.
