'Mindcop' Announced - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Feb. 6, 2020 @ 7:40 a.m. PST

Mindcop mixes Tetris-style puzzle mechanics and a "Whodunit" detective game structure and let's you find your own way to find the killer.

Mindcop aims to bring a new angle to the detective game genre by giving the player complete control over the investigation and providing them with the option to "surf the brainwaves" of suspects to find out more about them.

This completely nonlinear detective game lets the player take over a murder case as the infamous mindcop. A grumpy police investigator with the ability to surf people's brainwaves to acquire otherwise hidden information. To do this, the player must complete a tetris-style puzzle game. Some suspects minds are easy to access but others might be more resistant.

To solve the case and find the killer, players can move freely and visit any house in the neighborhood and question, mindsurf or even arrest anyone they meet. All of this will cost them time, which is the game's main resource and it is limited! Players are forced to make their own decisions and deductions and follow their own personal trail.

"In many games, you just mindlessly click on everything you can interact with and go through every dialog option you have, because why wouldn't you? You might get stuck if you miss something. I wanted to make a game in which players can't get stuck, but are forced to really choose what's important to them in any given moment." said developer Andre Gareis.

Mindcop is in development for PC, with other platforms being considered.
